The shameful glee with which Donald Trump accepted the Nobel Peace Prize from Maria Machado is appalling. The fact that both Trump and Machado must have known they were flouting the decision of the Nobel Prize Committee shows their total disregard for the award and a blatant disrespect of the Nobel Peace Prize — she for giving it to Trump, of all people, and he for accepting it. That it will now be displayed in the White House among Trump’s gilded obsessions is a huge embarrassment.
