What you need to understand is nobody is trading you a star. Not just for the 2030 pick.
This trade turns Butler (dead money) and Kuminga (no value) into two good NBA talents with deals that end after next season. If you’re worried that this trade limits their ability to be competitive after 26/27, think about who can be brought in that summer after all the expiring money goes away.
