On a per-share basis, the Florham Park, New Jersey-based company said it had a loss of 54 cents. Losses, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were 47 cents per share.
The operator of book stores on college campuses posted revenue of $288.2 million in the period.
Barnes & Noble Education shares have declined roughly 5% since the beginning of the year. The stock has dropped 22% in the last 12 months.
