How old is Carson Beck? It’s a question that’s asked a lot, since the Miami Hurricanes quarterback has been technically graduated from college for two years.
That question is also on top of mind as the Miami Hurricanes and Indiana Hoosiers take each other on in the College Football Championship on Monday, January 19.
Carson Beck Age vs. NFL Quarterbacks
Carson Beck was born on November 19, 2002, which makes him 23 years old as he steps onto the field in the College Football Championship.
So, Beck is already the same age as a handful of quarterbacks in the NFL. Bryce Young, the quarterback for the Carolina Panthers, is 24 years old. C.J. Stroud of the Houston Texans is also 24. Anthony Richardson of the Colts is just 22. Jaxson Dart of the New York Giants is also just 22.
So, Beck, as far as his age, is absolutely old enough to be a quarterback in the NFL.
Why Did Carson Beck Stay in College?
Why has Beck stayed in college football instead of going pro? According to a report from The Athletic, in January 2025, Beck announced that he was entering the transfer portal from Georgia with his eyes set on Miami. The Hurricanes needed a quarterback, and that was also where Beck’s girlfriend at the time, Hanna Cavinder, went to school.
“Beck and his advisers began to realize his injury was knocking down his NFL stock, and that another year in college could help, especially if it meant continuing to make money,” Seth Emerson of The Athletic states in a January 18 feature. “Miami was able to put together an NIL deal that sources with knowledge of the negotiations told The Athletic was for around $3 million. Beck announced Jan. 9 that he was entering the transfer portal. A day later, he announced for Miami. And a day after that, he was on Miami’s campus.”
Beck has been candid about technically graduating from college two years ago, although he’s still taking classes at Miami. When asked by a reporter about it in a presser on Saturday, January 17, he had a fun answer.
“No class. I graduated two years ago,” Beck said. “Obviously I’ve been working toward other degrees now that I’ve gotten to Miami, but these programs take a little longer than just a year to finish… I’ll be done after this season.”
When asked if he in on campus during the week, Beck was also upfront. “I live in the facility,” he said. “If I’m not at the facility, I’m at home, and I just kind of bounce back and forth. It’s been that way for about the past month.”
Bleacher Report says of Beck’s draft stock, “Beck has the skill-set suited for a team with good talent and culture that can win games. He excels in a point-guard role under center. He combines good anticipation, quick game efficiency and timely throwing.”
They add, ” He is a well-experienced player with over 30 starts in his collegiate career. His traits and experience are what NFL teams tend to look for in a future starting quarterback.”
