It was quite an offseason for Miami quarterback Carson Beck amid his very public breakup with former girlfriend Hanna Cavinder. Months after Beck transferred from Georgia to Miami, news emerged that Beck and Cavinder had broken up.
It was surprising news as being closer to Cavinder was a least viewed as a bonus in Beck’s move from Athens to Coral Gables. Cavinder is a former basketball player at Miami.
The couple posted a light-hearted video holding up Miami’s signature “U” after Beck announced his decision to bolt Georgia for Coral Gables. Months later, Beck and Cavinder were no longer in a relationship.
Ahead of the national championship, Beck was asked how he was able to overcome an offseason that appeared to be a “bottom point of your life.” As a reminder, Beck not only was dealing with a public breakup, but the quarterback also was rehabbing from a season-ending injury.
Beck pointed to his faith, family and friends who helped him overcome a challenging offseason.
“I think first and foremost is my faith is what ultimately pushed me through that,” Beck told reporters on January 17, 2026. “Just having faith that everything is going to be good, that God had my back, that this whole story is going to work out the way it’s supposed to, which is really hard in those moments. It’s really hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
“Besides that, obviously, I’d say my mom, my sister, and my family, some of my best friends. They’re always there for me. They would never waver regardless of what I’ve been through. That’s why I always keep close who’s in my inner circle. That’s who I love the most, and they’ve always had a huge part in my life and in my success.”

Beck has only briefly discussed his breakup with Cavinder, speaking mostly in general terms without mentioning his ex-girlfriend by name. In addition to the breakup, the former couple had luxury cars stolen after Beck’s move to Miami.
Breakups are never easy but having a low point play out in front of a national audience has its challenges.
“You make mistakes as a person, but it sucks that you have to go through something like that with someone that you care about, and now it’s all over the internet,” Beck explained to ESPN’s Andrea Adelson during an October 1, story titled, “At Miami, Carson Beck isn’t ‘trying to be Superman’ anymore.” “Half of what you see in the media is true. Half of what you see is not true.
“So, people pick their side of the story and run with it. The people that know the truth know the truth. But it’s been difficult.”
Hanna Cavinder & Twin Sister Haley Cavinder Just Celebrated Their 25th Birthday
After the breakup, a video went viral of Cavinder making some less than flattering remarks about the Miami quarterback. Cavinder is no longer a Miami student-athlete and is now focused on her various business ventures.
She just celebrated her 25th birthday with twin sister Haley Cavinder as Beck was preparing for the national championship.
“Year 25 with my wombmate 🤍🥳,” Cavinder posted on Instagram on January 14, along with photos of the two twins.

Given how the breakup unfolded, it will likely not be a surprise to fans that Beck and Cavinder are no longer on speaking terms, unless something has changed since October 2025.

But while he was working his way back, Beck was in the news again.
“Shortly after moving to Miami, he had his Lamborghini and a Mercedes stolen from the home he was sharing with Cavinder. The cars were not recovered. Then in April, Cavinder posted on social media that the two had broken up. They have not spoken since.”
