Bo Nix’s season came to an unfortunate end in the Denver Broncos’ win over the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Divisional Playoffs, and it was impossible to tell that he was even injured, let alone to the extent that he would miss the rest of the campaign.

Afterward, inside the Broncos’ stadium, it was a different story.

Nix is hoping to be ready for Week 1 next season. But that was unknown immediately after the game, and may have offered little to no consolation in the moment.

Izzy Nix Shares Intimate Moment After Husband, Bo Nix, Suffers Season-Ending Injury

Nix suffered the injury on the Broncos’ third-to-last play before Wil Lutz’s game-winning field goal against the Bills. He finished the game. Nix also participated in an on-field interview after helping the Broncos reach their first AFC Championship Game since 2015.

Izzy Nix, Bo’s wife, shared a photo from the moments after her husband learned his fate for the rest of this season and the coming offseason. Nix was not alone.

Izzy, Nix’s father, Patrick, and Broncos QBs Jarrett Stidham and Sam Ehlinger were there.

Still, Nix sat on the floor in a hallway, his back against a wall. The posture both fit and underscored the moment. Broncos head coach Sean Payton joined in. He joked that he told Nix the Broncos would not have drafted him had they known about his two previous ankle injuries.

The message from coach to QB was clear, though, with Payton remarking that Nix is “such a strong, faith-based guy.”

“He knows that God’s got a plan for him,” Payton told reporters on January 17. “He’s a tough cookie. And I said, ‘Listen, I believe you’re the second quarterback in Year 2 to take your team to a championship game,’ and the first is [Patrick] Mahomes. And this team, all year, has lost key players.

“We’ll rise up for the next challenge, and we’ll go from there.”

Pat Surtain II Sends Strong Message for Bo Nix Before AFC Championship Game

The Broncos will not have Nix the rest of the way, however long that may be, but the second-year QB is on the minds of teammates like All-Pro cornerback Pat Surtain II.

The reigning Defensive Player of the Year and three-time Pro Bowler expressed sentiments of support following Nix’s injury, for which he will undergo surgery during the coming week. Even if he is not physically present, Nix will be with Surtain and the Broncos.

“We got ya 10!” Surtain captioned a post on his Instagram story on January 17.

While the Broncos eye potentially getting players back, such as running back J.K. Dobbins, losing Nix is a cloud that will loom over them the rest of the way.

The Broncos are embracing the challenge that losing Nix presents, while simultaneously rallying around Stidham, who will replace him as the team’s starter. Still, it is a devastating blow for Nix and the Broncos in what is their best season in more than a decade.
