Dion Dawkins has emerged as an emotional leader on the Buffalo Bills in his nearly decade of playing at Highmark Stadium. The 2017 second-round draft pick has started almost every single game since head coach Sean McDermott drafted him in his first season with the team.
Monday morning, the only NFL head coach Dawkins has ever known was fired.
Dawkins, like several other Bills veterans, took to social media to issue a heartfelt goodbye to the longtime decision maker in Orchard Park.
“True leader amongst a world full of alphasâs,” Dawkins wrote. “Honored and Truly Best to learn under our Time. McDeezzyyyy You Are Truly One Of them Ones. Until The Grass Meets us Again #YouAlreadyShnow.”
Dawkins is in year two of a three-year extension signed in 2024.
He is the second most expensive player on the Bills roster.
