Eagles to Interview Former NFC South Assistant for Offensive Coordinator Job

The Philadelphia Eagles‘ quest to repeat as Super Bowl champions came to an end in the wild-card round of the 2025 NFL Playoffs. With the offseason upon the team, the Eagles have begun the process of getting themselves ready for the 2026 season, and even though they only recently got eliminated from the playoffs, big changes are already being made.

After enduring a rough offensive season, Philadelphia responded by immediately moving on from offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, even though it was only his first year in the role. While Patullo could stick with the team in a different role, he won’t be the Eagles’ offensive coordinator in 2026, meaning somebody new will have to fill the position. On Monday morning, a new report emerged linking Philly to former Tampa Bay Buccaneers‘ offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard.

Eagles Set to Interview Josh Grizzard for Offensive Coordinator Vacancy

After Kellen Moore was hired to be the New Orleans Saints head coach in the wake of the Eagles’ Super Bowl LIX victory, Patullo was tabbed as Philly’s new offensive coordinator. And yet, the team’s offense never got off the ground in 2025. The rushing attack, led by Saquon Barkley, struggled for much of the year, while A.J. Brown’s public displeasure with the passing attack came to personify the unit.

It wasn’t much of a surprise to see that Patullo won’t be the offensive coordinator next season, given how things unfolded. It is a bit of a surprise to see the team showing interest in Grizzard, though. Similar to Patullo, 2025 was Grizzard’s first season as the Bucs’ offensive coordinator, and after a hot start, he quickly got himself run out of town as Tampa Bay missed the playoffs entirely.

If it weren’t for injuries, though, things could have unfolded a bit differently for Grizzard with the Buccaneers. At the very least. Philadelphia is intrigued with what it saw from him early in the 2025 season with the Bucs, as it will bring him in for an interview for its vacant offensive coordinator position.

“Sources: The Eagles will interview former Bucs OC Josh Grizzard today for their vacant OC position,” NFL insider Jordan Schultz wrote in a post on X. “Grizzard spent 2024 as Tampa Bay’s pass-game coordinator, when the Bucs ranked third in passing. The team had four one-score wins in their first five games with Baker Mayfield looking like an MVP candidate this season before injuries took a toll on the year.”

Should the Eagles Hire Josh Grizzard?

The Eagles’ offensive coordinator opening is a bit of a complex job, largely because of the drama that surrounds the unit. Questions loom about Brown’s future with the team, and there are serious concerns about how the group performed last season. Whoever takes over will have a big challenge on their hands when it comes to getting this unit back on track.

Whether or not Grizzard is up for the challenge is unknown. His offense in Tampa Bay folded under pressure down the stretch of the 2025 campaign, so would he be able to get the most out of Jalen Hurts and company in Philadelphia? There’s no harm in discussing the opening with Grizzard, but it’d be a bit of a surprise if the Eagles ended up hiring him.
