Letter: Hawaii no stranger to U.S. regime change

America’s removal of a leader from a sovereign nation is old news. The Bayonet Constitution (officially the Constitution of 1887 of the Hawaiian Kingdom) was a legal document forced upon King David Kalakaua by a militia of white businessmen in 1887. It earned its nickname because the king was coerced into signing it under duress.
