FOXBORO — For the second time in as many weeks, the New England Patriots’ defense stepped up on the playoff stage.

The Patriots recorded five takeaways against the Houston Texans offense — including four interceptions of quarterback C.J. Stroud — to emerge with a 28-16 win at a snowy Gillette Stadium on Sunday afternoon in the AFC Divisional Round.

New England committed three turnovers of its own but allowed just seven points off those giveaways, as Mike Vrabel’s defense held firm to help punch the team’s ticket to its first AFC Championship Game since the 2018 season.

The Patriots will face Jarrett Stidham the Broncos in Denver next Sunday at 3 p.m. ET with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line.
