Madonna owns property around the world — New York, Sintra (Portugal) and London. Though she divides her time between all her homes, she has famously spent a lot of time living in the U.K. — notably during her marriage to Brit Guy Ritchie.

James Cameron

James Cameron, famed director of Avatar and Titanic, is originally from Canada. However, these days he mostly lives in Wellington, New Zealand, which he has called "a big small town."

Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes

Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes, who are notoriously private, have been spending more time in London's Hampstead neighborhood. However, the actress denied reports she is living there full-time. "Can't wait to get back home and celebrate the @dodgers World Series championship!" she previously said. "Go Dodgers!!!"

Christina Milian

Singer and actress Christina Milian — who is married to French singer Matt Pokora — moved to Paris, France, recently. "I do think we'll stay [in Paris] for a long time and that's really going to be a landmark place for us to stay most of our lives," she told People in 2024.

Sophie Turner

Despite playing an American on Emily in Paris, Lily Collins was actually born in the U.K. However, she and her husband, Charlie McDowell, now split their time between Los Angeles, Calif., and Copenhagen, Denmark.

Britney Spears said in 2024 that she was moving to Mexico to live a more private life, but it turned out that she hadn't after all, per The Hollywood Reporter.

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi

Janet Jackson has lived in London for many years with her son Eissa, as reported by Hello!. In 2024, the singer's British life made headlines when she struggled with a black mold problem in her apartment, per Daily Mail.

Shania Twain

Shania Twain is originally from Canada, where she lives much of the time. She also spends time in Switzerland, where her husband, Frédéric Thiébaud, is from.

Pamela Anderson

Despite being originally from Canada, Pamela Anderson is perhaps most associated with Southern California because of her time at the Playboy Mansion and on the show that propelled her career, Baywatch. However, these days the star famously lives off the grid on Vancouver Island, British Columbia.

Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan lives in Dubai with her husband, Bader Shammas, who is originally from Kuwait, and her son, Luai. The Mean Girls star has previously explained that the main draw of her new home is the lack of paparazzi. "There's no worry of, like, I can't go to eat at this place 'cause someone's gonna take a picture of my son," she told Live with Kelly and Mark in 2025.

Robin Wright

House of Cards actress Robin Wright is American but has lived in the U.K.'s Chiltern Hills for several years. "America is a s***show," she told The Times of London in 2025. "I love being in this country. There's a freedom of self here. People are so kind."

George and Amal Clooney

George Clooney and Amal Clooney do not live in the U.S. despite the Ocean's Eleven actor being Hollywood royalty. The couple owns property around the world — Italy, Los Angeles, New York and the U.K. — but they spend most of their time in the South of France. "In Provence, they have neighbors and friends they can interact with," an insider told In Touch in 2024. "There's much more of a community feeling." They recently received French citizenship.

Richard Gere

Richard Gere is married to Alejandra Silva, who is originally from Spain, so it's no surprise the couple moved their family to the Mediterranean country. "For Alejandra, it will be wonderful to be closer to her family, her lifelong friends, and her culture," Gere told Vanity Fair Spain in 2024 (via Hello!). "She was very generous in giving me six years living in my world, so it is only fair that I give her at least another six living in hers."

Eva Longoria

Eva Longoria was born in Texas to Mexican-American parents and is married to Mexican businessman José Bastón. For a while, the two have been dividing their time between Spain and Mexico, according to Daily Mail. When she's not super busy on set, Longoria spends her time relaxing in Spain, she revealed in 2024.

Musician Courtney Love was born in San Francisco, Calif., but has lived in London for the past several years. In March 2025, she said, "I'm really glad I'm here. It's so great to live here. I'm finally getting my British citizenship in six months. I get to be a citizen. I'm applying, man! Can't get rid of me."

Darius Rucker

In early 2025, South Carolina native Darius Rucker revealed he moved to London via a semi-cryptic Instagram caption which read, "I can't move to London and not play UK shows! Do you have your tickets yet? Limited VIP packages still available. See you soon!"

Josh Hartnett

Josh Hartnett may be a Hollywood heartthrob, but he doesn't live in Brentwood or Beverly Hills. He lives in the Hampshire countryside — all the way across the Atlantic in the U.K., which is his wife Tamsin Egerton's country of origin, per The Guardian.

Josh Lucas

While many Hollywood stars choose to relocate to Europe, Josh Lucas went with a very different vibe: he moved to Bali, Indonesia, for his son's education. "We came across this school called Green School Bali, and Green School has this amazing tagline … to create the next generation of environmental leaders," Lucas explained on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in 2019.
