Share Tweet Pin Email By Katherine Tinsley 3:47pm PST, Jan 19, 2026 _ Prince Harry could bring Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet to the U.K. one day, but Meghan Markle will most likely skip the outing.Keep reading for the details…MORE: Follow Wonderwall on MSN for more top news _ Prince Harry previously said he wouldn't bring Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet to England unless he could keep them safe. However, the U.K. government's decision to review the duke's security privileges could open the door for Harry and his kids to return to the region in the near future. "Harry says the security issue has been the biggest obstacle in any reconciliation with his family, and the primary reason that he has not brought his family to see their grandfather and experience their heritage," royal correspondent Jennie Bond told The Mirror. _ "So, if that obstacle is removed, it seems reasonable to presume that he will bring Archie and Lilibet over here," Jennie Bond continued. "And I think most people would be glad to see our old King reunited with the son he called his 'darling boy' and with the grandchildren he barely knows. But I'm less convinced that the public is ready for Meghan Part Two." _ Meghan Markle, who called her time in the royal fold "inauthentic," hasn't returned to the country since Queen Elizabeth II's 2022 funeral. Royal experts often think Meghan is uninterested in visiting England after years of complaining about her time there. "She's clearly happy at home in California, and I can't see why she would want to come to the U.K. and face possible hostility," Jennie Bond said. "So, perhaps in the future we will see more of Harry and possibly the children." _ Prince Harry has previously said he hopes to bring Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet to his home country, though it appears unlikely he will fully rejoin the royal fold."I don't think that he will be taking on any royal duties here," Jennie Bond said. "The decision was made that you cannot be half in and half out. Personally, I think that was pretty harsh, however, it is the way things are. And I think it would be a smack in the face to William, who has remained so completely loyal to his father and his duty, to allow Harry back as a working royal, even a part-time one." Royal family's new 'savior' revealed
Share Tweet Pin Email By Molly Claire Goddard 3:02pm PST, Jan 19, 2026 _ Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, is being hailed as the royal family's most valuable member. Keep reading to learn why…MORE: Follow Wonderwall on MSN for more top news _ According to journalist Hannah Furness, Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, has become an important member of The Firm through her humanitarian work, including visits to Sudan and Bosnia. "It is difficult work. Vivid, traumatic, and often far, far removed from the soap opera of royal headlines back in Britain," she wrote for The Telegraph. _ The bold work Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh — who is married to King Charles III's brother Prince Edward — is doing is seen as extremely brave. "Not for nothing, but Sophie regularly is called the royal family's 'secret weapon.' The quiet 'savior' of the monarchy, which has been rather lacking in active members of late through little fault of its own," Hannah Furness wrote. "The causes she has chosen to champion are bold, and she is unflinching in talking about the crimes that others might hide in euphemism." _ After being asked if she was the royal family's "secret weapon," Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, downplayed the remark. "I don't see myself in a frontline position per se, that said, admittedly, there are fewer working members of the family these days, so I suppose more and more I'm becoming less secretive," she told The Mirror. "I just wonder what they are going to describe me as next." _ When Prince William ascends the throne, Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, will reportedly be "more prominent," within The Firm, Hannah Furness wrote for The Telegraph. _ While Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, and Prince William are close, the 60-year-old is reportedly not as fond of Meghan Markle. "Sophie is relieved. She no longer has to curtsey to someone in the family who has not only left royal duties but has spent the past three years criticizing the institution that Sophie works so hard to support," a source told Hello! about the Duchess of Sussex's 2020 departure from England. Resident critically injured in 3-alarm fire in Willimantic
Willimantic fire officials say one person is in critical condition after an apartment fire Sunday night. The fire broke out just before 10 p.m. at the Armory Apartments on Pleasant Street. Fire crews received several 911 calls reporting the blaze, as well as a notification from the building’s fire alarms. Willimantic fire crews arrived minutes later and found smoke and fire coming from the back of the building. Officials said one person was out of the building and was injured. The Willimantic Police Department assisted in evacuating other residents from the apartments. The resident who was injured was taken to Hartford Hospital for serious burn injuries and then transferred to the Bridgeport Hospital burn center, according to officials. Crews tackled the fire, which also extended to the second-floor apartment and into the attic. The fire was escalated to a second alarm for additional mutual aid. Officials said the snow made the roads “less than ideal” for reaching the scene. After crews worked to open ceilings and walls, the flames were visible through ventilation openings in the room, and a third alarm was raised for additional resources. Willimantic fire crews were assisted by other fire departments from North Windham, Windham Center, Windham Hospital paramedics, Mansfield, University of Connecticut, Columbia, Coventry, Hebron, Scotland, and Norwich. The fire was eventually brought under control and fully extinguished. “I’m proud of [the fire crews’] efforts and grateful to our mutual aid partners for their assistance in helping us bring this incident under control,” Fire Chief Ron Palmer, Jr., said. The building once served as a state armory and was renovated years prior into a 30-unit apartment, officials said. Six apartments were affected by fire, smoke, or water damage and have been ruled uninhabitable. The Windham Fire Marshal’s office, along with the Connecticut State Police Fire Explosion Investigation Unit, will be investigating the cause of the fire.
