Mavericks’ Patrick Dumont wants Anthony Davis medical data before his injury return
On Tuesday, the Dallas Mavericks finally caved and fired general manager Nico Harrison after nearly a year of clamoring from the fanbase. Harrison of course became a basketball supervillain when he traded Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for a package centered around Anthony Davis, who is currently out of the lineup due to injury. Recently, the latest update was given on Davis’ potential return to the lineup, and it wasn’t necessarily a positive one. “Sources: Mavericks governor Patrick Dumont has requested medical data indicating that Anthony Davis is not at risk of aggravating his left calf strain before giving a green light for the 10-time All-Star big man to return. Will miss seventh straight game tonight,” reported ESPN NBA insider Tim McMahon on X, formerly Twitter. Many have speculated that the Mavericks could look to trade Davis now that Harrison is out of the picture, in hopes of getting some future assets to pair with number one overall draft pick Cooper Flagg. Harrison’s vision of teaming up Davis and Kyrie Irving has been an utter failure, as the future Hall of Fame duo has played a grand total of one game together thus far, with Irving currently sidelined with an ACL injury he suffered in March of last season. At this point, it remains to be seen what a potential Davis trade might look like, considering the star’s age and the unreliability of his health. Currently, the team sits at 3-8, and although Flagg has been off to a mostly strong start to his career, Dallas’ offense still ranks among the worst in the league at this early juncture of the season. In any case, the Mavericks will next take the floor on Wednesday night at home against the Phoenix Suns.
