Dana White reacts to Conor McGregor vs. Jorge Masvidal rumors for UFC White House: ‘It’s goofy sh*t’
If Conor McGregor is supposedly fighting Jorge Masvidal at the UFC White House card, Dana White seemingly knows nothing about it. After the UFC CEO scoffed at McGregor finally settling some unfinished business with Michael Chandler in his expected return to action in 2026, rumors began swirling about other potential opponents. Suddenly, Masvidal became the central focus after he previously announced plans to return from retirement and he’s got a history of bad blood shared with McGregor dating back several years. While matchmaking for the UFC White House card isn’t expected to start until after UFC 324 finishes on Saturday night, White could only laugh at the rumor that McGregor is going to face Masvidal on that card. “I don’t listen to any of the goofy shit. It’s goofy shit,” White told TMZ when asked about McGregor vs. Masvidal. “The MMA world, I don’t listen to any of that shit. So literally none of that is on my algorithm. Almost everything you see on the internet about our sport is wrong. It’s all wrong.” White says he never even heard that rumor because he rarely pays attention to any of the news out there involving the UFC. “You know what’s funny? In my algorithm on Instagram, I have nothing MMA,” White said. “Literally nothing MMA pops up.” Of course, White has acknowledged McGregor’s desire to return for the UFC White House card after he last fought all the way back in 2021 when he suffered a gruesome broken leg in his trilogy with Dustin Poirier. McGregor was supposed to make his comeback in 2024 in a fight scheduled against Chandler but the Irish superstar suffered a broken toe in training that forced him off the card. Lately, McGregor has posted numerous photos and videos on social media showing that he’s back in training while plotting to take a top spot on the White House card currently scheduled for June 14. While it’s possible that McGregor fights on that date, White has now seemingly nixed a pair of potential opponents — first with Chandler and now with Masvidal — at least for now. White added that he expects to finalize at least the top three fights for the UFC White House event after UFC 324 finishes, and he plans on having the card “dialed in” entirely by the second week in February.
