It's a great way to stay on top of the latest releases, lend a hand with bug reporting, and even put through some code of your own for inclusion in a future release. Still, GitHub isn't perfect, and that's why I decided to start running a local version of it at home, using Gitea. So, why on Earth would I bother running my own Git server when GitHub is perfectly servicable for daily development needs?
