Warriors star Jimmy Butler sustains season-ending torn ACL vs. Heat: Source
Jimmy Butler’s right knee injury turned out to be the worst-case scenario. Butler tore his right ACL in the Warriors’ win over the Miami Heat on Monday night and will miss the remainder of the 2025-26 NBA season, the team announced on Tuesday. The 36-year-old Butler suffered the injury in the third quarter as he landed while catching an entry pass. He immediately crumpled to the ground and grabbed his right knee. Butler remained on the court for several minutes before Buddy Hield and Gary Payton II carried him to the Warriors’ locker room. The Warriors’ season was trending up over the last few weeks, but Butler’s devastating injury could change everything. General manager Mike Dunleavy has some big decisions to make between now and the Feb. 5 NBA trade deadline. Golden State still can win at a high clip with Steph Curry and Draymond Green leading the way, but Butler was the third piece the team needed if it wanted to make a deep playoff run. Where Dunleavy and the Warriors go from here remains to be seen. San Francisco merchants announce lawsuit against PG&E after December blackout
Several merchants in San Francisco Tuesday announced a new lawsuit against PG&E following December’s massive blackout caused by a substation fire. Following the blackout, which left some 130,000 customers without power across much of San Francisco the weekend before Christmas, the utility announced automatic credits of $2,500 for businesses and $200 for residents affected. Those impacted by the outages argue that the credits issued by the utility aren’t enough given the amount of business lost during the busy, holiday period. BART-Uber partnership aims to provide riders end-to-end transportation
BART and Uber have launched a new partnership to offer Bay Area riders end-to-end transportation. Starting Tuesday, riders can use the BART app to book short Uber trips to and from BART stations. “Embracing technology to help people leave their cars at home and reduce congestion is a shared value within the Bay Area,” BART General Manager Bob Powers said in a statement. “Collaborating with Uber will help attract new riders and will simplify the process for those who take Uber to and from BART stations. This partnership will also expand access options as we build more housing in place of parking lots at stations.” NBC Bay Area’s Ginger Conejero Saab has more in the video report above

California gubernatorial candidate Steve Hilton tours San Jose tiny homes
Mayor Matt Mahan hosted a California gubernatorial candidate Tuesday for a tour of a tiny home facility in San Jose. Steve Hilton toured the facility on Guadalupe Parkway with the mayor, who used the opportunity to discuss what he sees as major achievements and roadblocks at the state level. The concept is known as an emergency housing site with 96 modular units. The facility also offers case management and job training, with the intention to get the unhoused enrolled. The city said there is a high success rate in moving folks into permanent housing. Mayor Mahan hopes this can serve as a model for California moving forward. “No matter who our next governor is, no matter which party they come from, I need them focused on solutions, and this is what today is about. We are leading the way on homelessness, on public safety,” mayor Mahan said. The mayor held a similar tour with other candidates a few weeks ago, including Tom Steyer and Katie Porter.
