South Korea’s impeached former President Yoon Suk Yeol has received a five-year jail sentence after being found guilty of multiple charges, including attempts to block his arrest after his failed move to impose martial law on the country in December 2024. Yoon was sentenced at the Seoul Central District Court on Friday in televised proceedings of one of the country’s most sensitive political trials in recent history.
