Cleveland and McCallie Share Top Spot in 4th High School Wrestling Poll

Cleveland and McCallie are locked in a tie for first place in the fourth Tennessee high school wrestling poll of the 2025 season, each earning 126 power ranking points. Now in its 32nd year, the poll primarily measures dual meet strength with some consideration given to individual tournament performance. Votes are cast by a statewide panel of high school wrestling coaches based on a maximum power ranking of 132, reflecting results through January 12, 2026. Tie at the Top Cleveland, which held sole possession of first place in the previous poll, now shares the top ranking with McCallie. Both programs earned identical 126-point power rankings as the season reaches its midpoint. Baylor remains in third place with 110 points, up slightly from the previous poll, while Nolensville holds steady at No. 4 with 92 points. Significant Movement Lakeway made the biggest jump in this week’s rankings, climbing three spots from No. 9 to No. 6 with 58 points. The surge represents one of the most impressive rises in the current poll cycle. Blackman dropped two positions from No. 6 to No. 8 with 54 points, while Bradley Central slipped one spot to No. 7 (55 points). MBA enters the rankings at No. 11 with 20 points after receiving votes but not cracking the top 12 in recent polls. Page, which held the No. 11 spot in the previous poll, dropped out of the rankings entirely. OBITUARY: William “Bill” Rex Reece

From the day Bill Reece made Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior in 1982, he found a peace, love, and purpose he had been searching for all his life. Whether as professional staff at Indiana University, or a paramedic, he tried to display the character of God and love of Jesus. His mission trips to Russia and Africa had a deep impact on his desire to enlarge the Kingdom. As paramedic, he never got into the back of an ambulance without Jesus. He volunteered as a horse wrangler where he worked with children at YMCA Camp Widjiwagan. He trained others in Evangelism Explosion, led discipleship groups, and worked with prison ministry. He helped bring God’s word to the Uma and Mato people. In Papua New Guinea. Bill and his son Todd served on walks to Emmaus, and one of his great joys was to mentor other men in the ways of God. As his neighbor of 20 years said, “Bill was my spiritual father. He always cared about people’s salvation.” He cherished his wife of 45 years, Nancy, protecting, challenging, and encouraging her. He loved his family and held dear the time he spent with them. He is preceded in death by his son, Todd Reece (surviving wife, Dawn). Bill is survived by his wife, Nancy, his daughter, Tricia Calkins (Jim), his son David Lee Rittenhouse (Colleen); his grandchildren Tyler Reece (Kristi), Ashley Greenfield (Jeremy), Fred Learey (Meagan), Corey Rittenhouse (Kirstin), and his great-grandchildren, Karlee Roman and Ember Reece, Ella and Philip Learey, and Cassius Rittenhouse. OBITUARY: James Glen “Jim” Van Hook

Former Founder and CEO/President of Provident Music and Brentwood Music, and CEO/President of Word Entertainment, James Glen (Jim) Van Hook, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2026, at home surrounded by his family. He was born April 7, 1941, the first child of Glen and Dorothy Van Hook, in Jackson, Alabama. He grew up in southern Georgia and graduated in 1959 from Concord High School in Concord, North Carolina. After graduation, he moved to Nashville, Tennessee, to attend Trevecca Nazarene University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Education. Later, he earned a master’s degree from Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College and an honorary doctorate from Trevecca Nazarene University. Jim’s career was filled with service as an educator, music minister, and entrepreneur, always with music and faith woven together. After teaching for several years at the university level, he served as the Minister of Music at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene in Oklahoma. He then founded the traveling Christian group, Bridge. In 1978, Jim, his wife, and two children moved back to Nashville for him to become Senior Vice President of The Benson Company. He later founded Brentwood Music, which grew to become one of the three largest companies in Christian music. In 1994, he sold the business to the Zomba Corporation and renamed it Provident Music, where he served as President and CEO for the next nine years. He then returned to education as the founding Dean of the Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business at Belmont University. He later became President and CEO of Word Entertainment, as well as the President of the Nazarene Publishing House, before retiring to spend more time with his family and grandchildren. Above all else, Jim was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. His faith was not only the foundation of his career, but the center of his life. While Jim was dedicated to his career, his greatest accomplishment was his family. In August 1962, he married Myra Sue (Susie) Hayes, and they were married until her death in 2018. Together they raised two children. He is survived by his son, Brent and Susan Michelle, and grandchildren Matthew and John David Van Hook; his daughter, Susan and Rod Riley, and grandchildren Anna and Jack Riley; his sister, Ann Parham; and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members. The family is grateful for the joy and support that his girlfriend Judy Taylor brought into his life in recent years. Funeral service will be held 2:00PM Friday, January 16, 2026, with visitation two hours prior to the service at Brentwood United Methodist Church, 309 Franklin Road, Brentwood, TN 37027.
