The Jan. 19, 2026, edition of WWE Monday Night RAW emanating from Belfast, Northern Ireland, was a sort of homecoming for Judgment Day member Finn Bálor, who was born in Bray, Ireland. While making his entrance, which was set to his OG theme, Bálor hilariously missed his timingon his taunt. For the first time in what feels like ages, Bálor competed for a world championship during the Belfast RAW. He faced CM Punk in the main event for the World Heavyweight Championship. Unfortunately, he did not come out on top. Despite his best efforts, Punk was able to hit a GTS (Go To Sleep) late in the matchup that put him away. Could this loss lead to a babyface turn for Bálor? Punk gave him his flowers after the match, and Bálor lingered by ringside. Perhaps WWE is planting the seeds for his eventual face turn. If he does, it will have been a long time coming. Bálor has been a heel for the last few years as part of Judgment Day. Maybe he will get a redemption arc. While Bálor failed to win the World Heavyweight Championship on RAW, he is a former Universal Champion. He became the inaugural Universal Champion after beating Seth Rollins at the 2016 SummerSlam event. However, an injury caused him to vacate the title the following night. Since then, he has had several title matches, but he has always failed to win main roster world title gold. He did win the NXT Championship twice throughout his career, though. As part of Judgment Day, he has won a lot of Tag Team Championships with the likes of Damian Priest and JD McDonagh. Just a few months after WWE Unreal premiered on Netflix, a second season has arrived, and it features fresh faces like the injured Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch. The all-access behind-the-scenes series is now following WWE’s creative journey to SummerSlam in August 2025. Along the way, they face hurdles like faking Rollins’ knee injury and handling the push of Lyra Valkyria. Additionally, there is a greater focus on celebrities. The lead-up to Jelly Roll’s in-ring debut is chronicled in the series as well, adding some star power to the second season. Is it worth the wait? WWE Unreal is a unique project, giving fans a look at how creative decisions are made. Picking up right after WrestleMania 41 — which WWE Unreal Season 1 culminated with — Season 2 chronicles the path to SummerSlam. The new season features some familiar faces, such as Rhea Ripley and Chelsea Green, but it mostly brings new players to the table. Almost immediately, Unreal proves its power, with bombshells being revealed almost instantaneously (listen to what Lynch says in one of her first talking heads). Through five episodes (and about five hours), Unreal attempts to take fans behind the scenes of some of its biggest Superstars’ paths to SummerSlam. Now, it’s fair to question how authentic Unreal really is. They emphasize how candid it is, but it’s always hard to tell with a series like this. Paul Heyman, who makes it known he hates the show, still indulges and gives secrets away. Rollins, who fooled everyone leading up to SummerSlam, has shared similar sentiments. Like professional wrestling, Unreal requires some suspension of disbelief. It’d be naive to take it all at face value, but the second season ups the ante from get-go with a nonchalant bombshell from Lynch. He has been open about his dislike of WWE Unreal, even telling ClutchPoints that there were “some lines I wasn’t willing to cross” when filming the show. Was his relationship with Punk one of them? In kayfabe, the two hate each other, but in the ring, they have to work together. They are never shown interacting backstage in the show, which feels like a missed opportunity. Understandably, the Superstars want to keep some things secretive in hopes of keeping the audiences’ suspension of disbelief. However, even having Rollins’ storyline as part of the show makes it feel like WWE’s got one foot in the water, not both. As they say, you can’t have your cake and it eat it too. That’s the biggest limitation that holds WWE Unreal back. Yes, there should always be kayfabe secrets, but maybe not in a show like this. Still, Rollins is pretty open with his fake injury outside of the Punk factor. Lynch’s reaction to having to lie to her loved ones makes you think about the consequences of their industry. The final episode is the most exciting part of WWE Unreal Season 2. It shows the two-night SummerSlam, including Rollins’ epic Money in the Bank cash-in. Who are the other standouts? While she had a quick rise in 2025, her SummerSlam match with Lynch ended with disappointment. Seeing her real reaction to the botch-filled match reminds fans that while they appear larger than life, WWE Superstars are human. It was a pleasant surprise that R-Truth’s release and subsequent return were included. It was nice to see his close relationship with Road Dogg, which made the episode about his release more emotional. It’s easy to cast judgment on Superstars who aren’t as “over” as others, but this is still their livelihood. The impact R-Truth’s release had was so unique.…

The San Jose Sharks are battling for a playoff spot as the NHL season nears the Olympic break. As a result, San Jose elected to fortify its roster for the first time under general manager Mike Grier. The Sharks acquired forward Kiefer Sherwood from the Vancouver Canucks before the trade freeze next month. Sherwood has been involved in trade rumors for a while at his point. The journeyman forward has been a late bloomer, recently developing into a goal-scoring power forward. Despite the rumors, the newest member of the Sharks’ roster admitted that the deal caught him by surprise a bit. “Obviously, [I was] a little caught off guard,” Sherwood said, via NHL.com. “… First and foremost, I’m really thankful for everything that the city and this organization has given me. And I know they say you earn it, but you’ve got to have the opportunity, and as a guy that has been a late bloomer, it’s everything I could have hoped for and more, and this is really a special place to play.” San Jose’s spot in the postseason is far from secure. They currently own the No. 3 seed in the Pacific Division, but there are multiple teams close behind. The Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Kings, and Seattle Kraken are all within two points of the Sharks. Sherwood should help provide needed goal-scoring depth. He joins San Jose having scored 17 goals and 23 points in 44 games for the Canucks. Federal immigration agents forced open a door and detained a U.S. citizen in his Minnesota home at gunpoint without a warrant, then led him out onto the streets in his underwear in subfreezing conditions, according to his family and videos reviewed by The Associated Press. ChongLy “Scott” Thao told the AP that his daughter-in-law woke him up from a nap Sunday afternoon and said that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents were banging at the door of his residence in St. Paul. He told her not to open it. Masked agents then forced their way in and pointed guns at the family, yelling at them, Thao recalled. “I was shaking,” he said. “They didn’t show any warrant; they just broke down the door.” Amid a massive surge of federal agents into the Twin Cities, immigration authorities are facing backlash from residents and the local leaders for warrantless arrests, aggressive clashes with protestors and the fatal shooting of mother of three Renee Good. “ICE is not doing what they say they’re doing,” St. Paul Mayor Kaohly Her, a Hmong American, said in a statement about Thao’s arrest. “They’re not going after hardened criminals. Instead, as his 4-year-old grandson watched and cried, Thao was led out in handcuffs wearing only sandals and underwear with just a blanket wrapped around his shoulders. Videos captured the scene, which included people blowing whistles and horns and neighbors screaming at the more than a dozen gun-toting agents to leave Thao’s family alone. “It was so heartbreaking seeing him in that image,” Thao’s sister-in-law, said Louansee Moua in Facebook post. “You can’t get it out of your head. He has no clothes, and it’s, like, 12 degrees and it’s snowing.” Thao said agents drove him “to the middle of nowhere” and made him get out of the car in the frigid weather so they could photograph him. He said he feared they would beat him. He was asked for his ID, which agents earlier prevented him from retrieving. Agents eventually realized that he was a U.S. citizen with no criminal record, Thao said, and an hour or two later, they brought him back to his house. There they made him show his ID and then left without apologizing for detaining him or breaking his door, Thao said. DHS defends operation The U.S. Department of Homeland Security described the ICE operation at Thao’s home as a “targeted operation” seeking two convicted sex offenders. “The US citizen lives with these two convicted sex offenders at the site of the operation,” DHS said. “The individual refused to be fingerprinted or facially ID’d. He matched the description of the targets.” Thao’s family said in a statement that it “categorically disputes” the DHS account and “strongly objects to DHS’s attempt to publicly justify this conduct with false and misleading claims.” Thao told the AP that only he, his son and daughter-in-law and his grandson live at the rental home. Neither they nor the property’s owner are listed in the Minnesota sex offender registry. The nearest sex offender listed as living in the zip code is more than two blocks away. DHS did not respond to a request from The Associated Press seeking the identities of the “two convicted sex offenders” or why the agency believed they were present in Thao’s home.
