LeBron James may or may not have practiced with South Bay Lakers on Monday

Who doesn’t love a good bit of mystery surrounding LeBron James? While the Lakers are on a five-game road trip, LeBron is moving forward in his rehab back in Los Angeles. That progression includes the need to play in a 5-on-5 setting. Well, if the actual Lakers are in Charlotte, then the next best option for him is the South Bay Lakers, who opened their G League season over the weekend. Prior to Monday’s game…

Gabe Vincent progressing from ankle injury, still on initial recovery timeline

While much of the discussion about the Lakers’ injuries has centered on Luka Dončić, Austin Reaves and LeBron James, they aren’t the only ones who have missed time. Gabe Vincent opened the season (controversially) in the starting lineup before suffering an injury midway through the third game of the season. That sprained ankle against the Kings has had him sidelined since with an initial timeline of 2-4 weeks until his return. On Saturday, head coach JJ Redick provided an update on Gabe Vincent — despite saying there was no update — in which he noted that he was still on pace to return in that 2-4 week window. JJ Redick had "no update" on Gabe Vincent (out, ankle) but he is:– on this road trip– "progressing"– on court with Lindsay Harding has "significantly increased in intensity"– still non-contact, no 1:1– feels good– initial 2-4 week timeline, hopefully closer to 3 weeks— Law Murray ⛲️ (@LawMurrayTheNU) November 8, 2025 That’s a lot of information for no update! Really, the “no update” part probably means there’s no medical update, just plenty of other stuff. On Monday, Vincent and Adou THiero were on the court after shootaround going through shooting drills, which doesn’t differ from anything Redick said in his update/non-update. Gabe Vincent and Adou Thiero going through shooting drills post-shootaround in Charlotte as Al Green plays in the background pic.twitter.com/F0ej0LVbHT— Khobi Price (@khobi_price) November 10, 2025 I would imagine the plan for Vincent will involve him continuing on-court, non-contact work for much of the next week, then potentially moving forward from there when the Lakers return to LA and have extended time to practice. After playing on Nov. 15 in Milwaukee, the Lakers play once over the next week. That feels like the time when players are going to return to the court like Vincent, LeBron James and, potentially, Adou Thiero. That week of time off and practice could serve as a mini reset for the Lakers after their injuries to start the year. And if multiple players can return, it could be a huge boost to a team that has played shorthanded all season long so far. Apollo Sports Capital to assume majority ownership of Atlético de Madrid

A new era is dawning at Atlético de Madrid. Atlético on Monday confirmed that American venture capital firm Apollo Global Management is taking over majority ownership of the club. Through its Apollo Sports Capital vehicle (ASC), Apollo is expected to buy more than half of the club’s shares and exert majority control over Atlético from the first financial quarter of 2026. “We are very proud to welcome a committed new partner to the club,” longtime CEO and majority stakeholder Miguel Ángel Gil said via statement. “Apollo Sports Capital is a powerful ally who respects the history, traditions and defining identity of Atlético de Madrid and its fans, while bringing additional strength and enthusiasm to help maintain our growth and competitiveness.” Atlético de Madrid to welcome Apollo Sports Capital as majority shareholderℹ️ https://t.co/nJXYdMZfxH pic.twitter.com/hSlzNyjaSm— Atlético de Madrid (@atletienglish) November 10, 2025 Robert Givone, an Apollo Partner and the co-Portfolio Manager of ASC, confirmed earlier reporting that, despite a significant reduction in their shares, Gil and longtime president Enrique Cerezo will stay in front-facing management roles to lead this transition between ownership groups. “Atlético de Madrid is one of Europe’s great sporting institutions and we are honored for Apollo Sports Capital to invest in this storied club and its more than 120-year heritage,” Givone said. “Miguel Ángel has done a tremendous job transforming Atlético and it was important to us that we invest behind his continued leadership, in addition to investing in the team and the local community.” Apollo Global Management was founded in 1990; one of its co-founders, Josh Harris, is now a shareholder in Premier League side Crystal Palace, as well as the NFL’s Washington Commanders, the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers, and the NHL’s New Jersey Devils. Headquartered in New York City, Apollo is the 26th-largest asset management firm in the world, with some $900 billion worth of assets in its investment portfolio. The division of shares According to the Spanish business outlet Expansión, Apollo is purchasing 55 percent of all shares in Atlético de Madrid, giving ASC the majority stake in a club that is being valued at €2.5 billion in all. In response, Gil’s stake will drop to 10 percent from 50.8 percent, while Cerezo will own 3 percent of the club’s shares from 2026, having owned more than 15 percent previously. In 2021, Gil and Cerezo merged their shares into Atlético HoldCo, which was established during the COVID-19 pandemic; Atlético HoldCo will disappear as an entity once the club’s sale is completed. €237 million: Atletico Madrid's valuation before Diego Simeone€2.5 billion: Atletico Madrid's valuation today https://t.co/wG7XkfCzIM pic.twitter.com/w4bZrPsEtW— Michael (@LaLigaMichael) November 10, 2025 Quantum Pacific, the London-based holding company that has had a stake in Atlético for years, will come out of the sale with a 25 percent controlling interest. Los Angeles-based asset management firm Ares, which previously owned more than one-third of the club’s shares, will hold 5 percent after the sale closes. Other minority shareholders make up the remaining 1.5 to 2 percent. “We are equally excited to remain minority investors and continue providing strategic support as the club builds on its momentum,” Ares’ Jim Miller said via The Athletic. Per Nacho Donado of Club Uría, Gil and Cerezo will continue to lead Atlético for the next “three or four seasons,” a period that will encompass the opening of the new €800 million Ciudad del Deporte on the grounds around the Riyadh Air Metropolitano in the spring of 2027. So, to summarize: Apollo Sports Capital: 55 percent Quantum Pacific Group: 25 percent Miguel Ángel Gil Marin: 10 percent Ares Management Group: 5 percent Enrique Cerezo: 3 percent Others: 1.5 to 2 percent What are Apollo’s plans for Atlético? Lakers vs Hornets preview: An opportunity to compete

The Lakers began their five-game road trip with a disappointing loss against the Hawks. The good news is they can move on from that game and show that this contest was an anomaly when they take on the Hornets. Start time and TV schedule Who: Los Angeles Lakers vs. Charlotte Hornets When: 4:00 p.m. PT, Nov. 1o Where: Spectrum Center Watch: Spectrum Sportsnet Look, the Hornets aren’t a good team. They are 3-6 on the season and their three wins came against the Jazz, Nets and Wizards. These teams have a combined record of 5-23. However, as Saturday’s loss against a severely shorthanded Atlanta team demonstrated, if the Lakers don’t bring the appropriate level of energy, they can lose to anyone. Lakers fans should expect the team to bounce back from that poor performance. Head coach JJ Redick was fuming after the game and it’s a pretty good bet that he let them have it and will demand better from them in Charlotte. "Just not a lot to like tonight."JJ Redick speaks with the media after the Lakers fall to the Hawks, 122-102 in the first game of a 5-game road trip. pic.twitter.com/Wjj6MqbIg1— Spectrum SportsNet (@SpectrumSN) November 9, 2025 Being better starts at the top with the Lakers. While Luka Dončić has been sensational for the most part this season, with LeBron James out and Austin Reaves still dealing with a groin issue, he needs to be better on this road trip. Against the Hawks, he committed two early fouls, making it difficult for him to stay physical on defense. Add in some missed free throws, and things got ugly quickly in Atlanta. Beyond Luka, everyone needs to be better. No one had a good performance for the Lakers against the Hawks, so improvement is needed across the board. From the Hornets’ perspective, they’ll need a big game from their rookie Kon Knueppel. He’s averaging 16.4 points and six rebounds per game. Other production for the Hornets will be tough to come by. LaMelo Ball is still out, and Miles Bridges is questionable. The good news for the Hornets is that Collin Sexton is back. He is averaging 16.1 points this season. Regardless of who plays for Charlotte, Los Angeles should still win this game. They are coming off an embarrassing loss and need to show that kind of play is unacceptable and won’t be commonplace this season by dominating the Hornets. Notes and Updates For the Lakers’ injury report, LeBron James (right sciatica), Adou Thiero (left knee surgery recovery) and Gabe Vincent (left ankle sprain) are out. Austin Reaves (right groin strain) has been upgraded to questionable. For the Hornets, LaMelo Ball (right ankle impingement), Josh Green (left shoulder surgery), Brandon Miller (left shoulder subluxation) and Grant Williams (right knee surgery) are all out. Miles Bridges (back spasms) is questionable. You can follow Edwin on Twitter at @ECreates88 or on Bluesky at @ecreates88.bsky.social.

Jake LaRavia felt the starters didn’t set the tone against Hawks

While JJ Redick’s postgame press conference was quite funny in its brevity, there was something to take away from his answers, too. The most memorable moment came at the end of the presser when, after being asked if he realized during the third quarter that the Lakers weren’t going to win, he said he could tell from the first two minutes of the game that they’d lose. He then followed that up with a great one-liner.…

Deandre Ayton felt the Lakers underestimated the Hawks, didn’t compete

With the Lakers entering Atlanta as one of the hottest teams in the NBA and the Hawks having Trae Young, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Jalen Johnson, Luke Kennard and Kristaps Porzingis all out, it was easy to assume this game would be an LA win. It seems the Lakers felt the same and played accordingly. From the start, focus, energy and attention to detail were all absent. Los Angeles gave minimal effort while Atlanta…

Player Grades: Lakers vs. Hawks

Turns out the Lakers won’t be going 80-2 this season. Even if their win streak wasn’t going to last forever, there were more ceremonious ways for it to end. But even if the Lakers knew firsthand the dangers of playing against a severely undermanned team, they certainly overlooked the Hawks on Saturday and paid a hefty price. This loss, then, falls somewhere between “Oh well, it happens” and “How could you let this…

JJ Redick had a 90-second postgame press conference after blowout loss to Hawks

JJ Redick is not someone who handles losses well. He’s already admitted to spending nights alone in his dark basement when the Lakers lose. Saturday, then, probably didn’t do wonders for his mental health. The Lakers looked lackadaisical from the start against the Hawks and a fiesty, undermanned Atlanta team put them to the blade. LA offered up the ball via turnover — Atlanta finished with 36 points on 19 Lakers…
