The UK’s alt-pop/rock diva Tally Spear releases new single titled “Upside Down”
Rolling in from the UK, singer-songwriter Tally Spear has released her newest single, “Upside Down.” Drawing inspiration from artists such as Avril Lavigne, this alt-pop/rock princess brings a fiery energy to each stage she steps upon with songs that retain relatable themes to her listeners. Spear’s music explores themes of social commentary and personal conflicts, which many can relate to in their own sense — her newest single being no exception. “Upside Down” tells a story for those who tend to overthink life. In an Instagram post, the artist mentions that the inspiration for “Upside Down” came from the feeling of grief, feeling as if you’re “stuck in the upside down”: “Don’t know where to go / and there’s no signs / I tread so carefully / overthink everything / but still nothing ever turns out how I want / And now I can’t believe / this new reality / Guess I thought I knew the way but now I’m lost/ in the upside down.” The release of “Upside Down” marks the fifth song on Spear’s second studio EP titled Bittersweet, coming out April 10. The single joins the ranks of other popular songs “How Are You”, “Where Do I Go From Here?”, “August 31st“, and “Bittersweet.” Much more is to be anticipated from this rockstar, but in the meantime, you can catch Spear live; she plays January 22 in London at the Signature Brew Haggerston, and on May 15 in Glasgow at Glasgow Stereo. Broadside announces new album ‘Nowhere, At Last’ alongside intense new single “Dark Passenger”
Broadside has finally announced that their long-awaited fifth album Nowhere, At Last will be released on April 10th via Thriller Records. The Virginia pop-rockers first commenced this darker new era with “I Think They Know,” a haunting anthem for paranoia and imposter syndrome that dropped in April of last year. Since then, they’ve continued to build upon the excitement for their forthcoming record with consistent single releases, including “Warning Signs,” “Someone You Need” and “Blissed Out.” Official news of its release was unveiled on Monday, January 12th with the band sharing, “This album, to us, feels both like a union of our previous 4 LPs and another step further up the road. We can’t wait for you to join us in the blur between dreams.” Pre-order/pre-save for Nowhere, At Last is available here. In addition to the announcement, Broadside has also shared their latest single “Dark Passenger.” The intense track sinks into the exhaustion of the never-ending battle with harmful habits and patterns that come with anxiety and depression. The band acknowledges the chaos of self-sabotage and how it can feel easier to stay instead of walking away from familiarity, even when it quietly suffocates you. Broadside continues to unravel the darker lyrical and musical themes expected on Nowhere, At Last with this intoxicating new effort. The album, which heavily draws inspiration from sci-fi classic The Twilight Zone, captures the band’s evolution and efforts to resonate with not only themselves, but also those who decide to give their music a chance. In an interview with Melodic Magazine, vocalist Oliver Baxxter shared, “Every single song has a moment in it that [makes] you go, ‘Oh shit.’ Whether it’s a production moment, a lyric thing or something, we really made it important for the listening experience and I’m hoping that’s what we nail on a sonic level. We’re trying out a bunch of new style things.” With a busy touring and festival schedule ahead, Broadside is kicking off the new year as support for State Champs across the east coast on their Around the World and Back 10 Year Anniversary Tour. The band is then set to head to Australia with Anberlin, Cartel, Hot Chelle Rae, and This Wild Life before touring with The Maine in the United States and performing at the UK’s Slam Dunk Festival later this spring. Tickets and information for all of Broadside’s upcoming dates can be found here. Nowhere, At Last Tracklist: 1. Cherry Red Ego Death 2. Nowhere At Last 3. Warning Signs 4. Control Freak 5. Dead Roses 6. Someone You Need 7. Mushroom Cloud 8. I Think They Know 9. Blissed Out 10. Dark Passenger 11. What Are You Leaving Behind? 12. Is This It?
