Broadway event offers Lenawee residents a nearby night out
ANN ARBOR — Jewish Family Services will host a one-night Broadway performance on Saturday, January 10, featuring students from the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre, and Dance. The event will take place at the Morris Lawrence Building at Washtenaw Community College at 4800 East Huron River Drive, in Ann Arbor. Registration opens at 6:15 p.m., and the performance begins at 7 p.m. Organizers say the program will showcase classic Broadway numbers, followed by a dessert reception. Tickets are $75 for in-person attendance, $50 for virtual streaming, and $15 for students with ID. Winter Solstice celebration at Weber Center
ADRIAN — Weber Retreat and Conference Center will host a Winter Solstice celebration on Sunday, December 21, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. on the campus of the Adrian Dominican Sisters. The solstice marks the shortest day of the year, and the event will focus on themes of light, reflection, and seasonal transition. Organizers say the program will include music and movement centered on renewal during the winter season. The celebration will be facilitated by Sister Esther Kennedy, a Dominican Sister from Adrian who leads retreats, offers spiritual direction, and guides the center’s monthly Days of Mindfulness. The Winter Solstice event is free and open to the public. No registration is required. Weber Center is located at 1257 East Siena Heights Drive. Small Business Saturday Coming Nov. 29
ADRIAN — Downtown Adrian is preparing for Small Business Saturday on November 29, and local businesses are being encouraged to take part in the annual shopping event. Adrian Main Street says participation forms have already been sent to downtown retailers, and promotional materials will be shared across social media to help boost local turnout. The national shopping day is intended to support independently owned businesses heading into the holiday season. Event coordinators reported that businesses will be able to highlight sales, extended hours, and special offerings throughout the day. Main Street staff will also be promoting the event communitywide to encourage residents to shop locally. Small Business Saturday takes place the weekend after Thanksgiving and is recognized nationwide as a key driver for small business revenue.
