Hyderabad: A day after meeting Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, Station Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari on Saturday said there were no specific reasons for failing to respond to the disqualification petition and assured that he would abide by the Speaker’s decision. The Speaker had issued notices to both Station Ghanpur MLA and Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender to appear for the hearing before November 23. Accordingly, Srihari met the Speaker on Friday and sought additional time to respond to the disqualification petition filed by the BRS. “I have sought more time to respond and the Speaker responded positively. Today, he might indicate on the time to be offered,” Srihari said while speaking to a news channel at Station Ghanpur. He said he was consulting legal experts and followers on the future course of action and that a response would be given to the Speaker after these discussions. On the possibility of a by-election in the constituency owing to the disqualification petition, the Station Ghanpur MLA said, “I have not commented on my resignation. I will take decision based on the circumstances and as per the Speaker’s decision.” He criticised opposition parties for their campaign and asserted that they were being overenthusiastic in predicting a by-election. “In case a by-election is inevitable, I will contest again and people will elect me back. Let there not be any apprehensions,” Srihari said.
