Horneland explique : "Clermont nous a donné du fil à retordre, surtout au début de la rencontre. Ça nous a fait perdre un peu notre confiance. On n'a pas réussi à trouver le bon rythme, notamment en défense." Un constat lucide, mais aussi une mise en garde pour la suite du championnat. Des ajustements qui font la différence La seconde période a vu l’ASSE mieux organisée et plus compacte. Les changements opérés par Horneland ont permis de reprendre l’initiative et de créer l’ouverture décisive. "Pour la seconde mi-temps, on avait besoin de faire des ajustements dans notre organisation… Les changements nous ont aidés à faire une meilleure deuxième période. On a réussi à être un peu plus rapproché les uns des autres et on réussi à marquer ce beau but", explique l’entraîneur norvégien. Le but de Boakye, véritable bijou d’intelligence de jeu, a été le couronnement d’une performance qui reste perfectible. Horneland conclut avec un mélange de satisfaction et d’exigence : "On avait absolument besoin de cette victoire qui nous échappait depuis trop longtemps. C'est une bonne chose de renouer avec le succès. J'espère qu'on va réussir à construire sur cette victoire, on a besoin de reprendre une série victorieuse."
