Alabama adds SEC OL with starting experience from transfer portal
Alabama football landed its second offensive line commitment of the day Friday evening. Nick Brooks is heading to Tuscaloosa, after starting three games for Texas last season. Brooks shared the news to his social media account on Friday. He joined former Cal Poly center Racin Dalgatty in joining the Crimson Tide’s portal class that day. The 6-foot-7, 349-pound Brooks adds a serious dose of size to Alabama’s room. He played in five games for the Longhorns last season, and will have three seasons of eligibility to use in Tuscaloosa. In his college debut against Sam Houston, Brooks played right tackle. The rest of the year, including when he started games against Oklahoma, Kentucky and Mississippi State, he slotted in at left guard. The Grayson (Ga.) product was a four-star recruit in the 2025 class for Texas. The 247Sports composite ranked him as the No. 25 offensive tackle in the class. Brooks’ addition to the portal class gives Alabama a body in a spot where it desperately needed reinforcements. The Crimson Tide lost all but one offensive line starter from last season, with Kam Dewberry, Jaeden Roberts and Geno VanDeMark running out of eligibility, Kadyn Proctor and Parker Brailsford opting to enter the NFL Draft early and Wilkin Formby transferring to Texas A&M. Alabama also lost several reserves to the portal. Joseph Ionata jumped to Georgia Tech, while Olaus Alinen headed to Kentucky, Arkel Anugwom to Northwestern and Micah DeBose to Vanderbilt. Undergraduate players will no longer be able to enter the portal after 11 p.m. CT on Friday.
