A Major Disney World Closure Starts in 8 Days—and It Will Disrupt Park Operations

Disney World will soon announce a major transportation service closure, affecting operations across hotels and parks for millions of visitors. Credit: Disney Disney Skyline Closure: Operational Disruptions To Begin Resort-Wide The magic of Walt Disney World Resort often reveals itself in the smallest moments—gliding above shimmering waterways, catching a breeze as you float between lands, or watching the parks wake up from a bird’s-eye view. For many guests, those moments don’t happen on a thrill ride or during fireworks. They happen in transit. Few experiences capture that everyday enchantment quite like the Disney Skyliner. Since its debut, the gondola system has become a ritual for resort guests and park hoppers alike—efficient, scenic, and unmistakably Disney. You hear the hum of the cabins, spot character wraps drifting overhead, and suddenly the journey becomes part of the vacation story. But Disney magic is carefully maintained, and that means even the most beloved systems sometimes need a pause. Fans are noticing subtle signs, whispers are spreading online, and a familiar question is popping up in planning groups: What happens when the Skyliner isn’t there? Credit: @abigails_stl / Disney When a Seamless Disney Ritual Becomes Part of the Vacation Routine The Skyliner didn’t just solve a transportation problem—it changed how guests experience the resort. It shortened mornings, softened midday exhaustion, and offered a peaceful reset between parks. For families staying along its route, hopping to EPCOT or Disney’s Hollywood Studios felt effortless, even joyful. Over time, that ease became an expectation. Guests began choosing resorts specifically for Skyliner access. Morning strategies were built around it. Social feeds filled with photos of gondolas floating past fireworks or gliding in at golden hour. When something becomes that ingrained, any disruption feels bigger than a schedule note—it feels personal. Credit: Disney A Quiet Shift Is Prompting Questions From Disney Travelers As January continues, attentive fans are picking up on a familiar Disney pattern. Routine maintenance windows, transportation notices, and subtle planning adjustments have started to surface. For seasoned visitors, this signals one thing: a temporary change is coming. While Disney has long emphasized that refurbishments are non-negotiable for safety and reliability, that doesn’t stop the ripple effect. Travelers planning late-January trips are recalculating mornings. Park hoppers are rethinking transitions. And resort guests are asking how much extra time they’ll need when their favorite shortcut is unavailable. Credit: Brian McGowan, Unsplash Disney’s Transportation Ecosystem Has Always Been About Redundancy Long before gondolas soared above property, Disney perfected the art of moving massive crowds with layered options—buses, boats, walking paths, and monorails. The system is designed to flex when one piece steps away. That context matters. Temporary closures have happened before, and Disney has consistently leaned on its transportation depth to keep vacations running smoothly. Still, knowing how to pivot can make or break a park day, especially during rope drop or evening park hopping. Credit: Ryaninc, Flickr Here’s What’s Actually Happening With the Disney Skyliner Now for the detail travelers need: the Disney Skyliner will be closed from January 25 through January 31, 2026, as part of its annual refurbishment schedule. During this period, gondola service will be unavailable for guests staying at: Disney’s Art of Animation Resort Disney’s Pop Century Resort Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort Disney’s Riviera Resort Disney will provide complimentary bus transportation to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios from these resorts, using the same bus stops typically designated for Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. Buses usually run about every 30 minutes, though guests should plan to leave at least an hour before their desired park arrival—especially during…

Major Changes Coming to Orlando Airport in 2026 That Will Impact Every Disney World Traveler

For millions, the journey to Walt Disney World starts at Orlando International Airport (MCO). On the return trip, it’s the same process, often complicated by security lines and delays at one of the busiest airports in the U.S. However, starting in 2026, MCO will undergo significant changes that will…

This Interactive Disney Activity Will Change Everything About EPCOT Event

Walking through EPCOT during the International Festival of the Arts feels uniquely vibrant and celebratory. The atmosphere is focused on engagement, with visual art installations, Broadway performances, and culinary creations that blend sustenance with artistic expression. What sets this festival apart is the invitation for guests to actively participate rather than just observe. Credit: Disney Parks Blog There are hands-on animation workshops, interactive photo opportunities, and exploratory activities that encourage a fresh perspective on the park. Among these, one activity stands out as accessible and fun for all ages, transforming a stroll around World Showcase into a treasure hunt that fosters family bonding and rewards observation with a tangible prize, extending the creative experience beyond the event itself. Figment’s Brush With the Masters Returns The Figment’s Brush With the Masters Scavenger Hunt is back for the 2026 Festival of the Arts, and if you’ve never participated before, this is your chance to experience one of the festival’s most beloved interactive activities. The concept is straightforward but genuinely engaging: find 10 paintings hidden throughout World Showcase that feature Figment, EPCOT’s purple dragon mascot, inserted into famous works of art. Photos: Looking for an extra activity at #EPCOT Festival of the Arts 2026? Join Figment’s Brush with the Masters Scavenger Hunt and explore World Showcase with a creative twist! #ArtfulEPCOT https://t.co/emReGTmOvs— LaughingPlace.com (@laughingplace) January 16, 2026 To get started, you’ll need to purchase a map at one of three locations: Gateway Gifts, Creations Shop, or World Traveler. The map costs $11.99, which includes both the scavenger hunt experience and a completion prize. You have the option to redeem your prize immediately upon purchase or wait until after you’ve completed the hunt. Either way, prizes are redeemed at those same three locations where you bought the map. How the EPCOT Hunt Works The back of your map contains stickers that provide hints about what paintings to look for. These clues guide you around World Showcase as you search for Figment cleverly incorporated into artistic masterpieces. The paintings are positioned throughout the pavilions, which means your hunt will take you through multiple countries as you scan the environments looking for that distinctive purple dragon. This is where the activity becomes more than just a simple scavenger hunt. Because you’re actively searching for specific artworks, you end up paying closer attention to the details of each pavilion than you might during a typical walk around World Showcase. You notice architectural elements you’ve walked past dozens of times without really seeing. You spend time in corners of pavilions you might normally skip. You engage with the theming and design in a more intentional way. The hunt also encourages you to slow down. Instead of rushing from one pavilion to the next trying to hit all the food booths or catch a specific performance time, you’re moving at a more deliberate pace, actually looking at your surroundings with purpose. For families with children, this transforms what could be a lot of walking into an active game where everyone’s participating and working toward a shared goal. The Completion Prize Once you find all 10 Figment paintings, you can redeem your map for a surprise paint-by-sticker activity with four different design options. This hands-on creative activity extends the Festival of the Arts experience, making it perfect for doing at home or during downtime. It’s a fun souvenir for kids that combines activity with a keepsake. Previous years’ prizes have been of high quality, featuring appealing designs that feel rewarding for completing the hunt. Why This EPCOT Activity Stands Out Festival of the Arts offers numerous ways to engage with creativity, but Figment’s Brush With the Masters hits a sweet spot of accessibility, entertainment value, and…
