Bills rumors: Tom Pelissero outlines obstacles for Mike Tomlin hiring in Buffalo

All signs pointing to Eric Bieniemy-Chiefs reunion, per reports
As rumors swirl that the Kansas City Chiefs could soon lose offensive coordinator Matt Nagy to the Tennessee Titans, Andy Reid has reportedly tabbed his successor in the form of a regular blast from the past. Taking to social media to inform fans of the team that “all signs are pointing towards,” NFL Network reporter Tom Pelissero shared that the Chiefs are in contact with ex-offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy to return to his former role after spending time with the Washington Commanders, UCLA Bruins, and Chicago Bears. “Reunion: All signs are pointing towards Eric Bieniemy returning to the Chiefs as their offensive coordinator, sources say,” Pelissero wrote. “With Matt Nagy out of contract and in the head coaching mix, Kansas City plans to bring back Bieniemy, a valued member of Andy Reid’s staff from 2013-22.” Initially playing for Reid as a running back all the way back in 1999 with the Philadelphia Eagles, Bieniemy reunited with his former coach in 2013, serving as a running backs coach from 2013-17 before being elevated to offensive coordinator from 2018-22. From there, Bieniemy was hired as an assistant head coach and offensive coordinator for the Commanders in 2023 before taking the same role at UCLA in 2024. Bieniemy returned to the NFL in 2025, coaching the Bears’ elite running backs unit on the way to the Divisional Round of the 2026 NFL Playoffs. While only time will tell what the future holds for Nagy, be that a head coaching gig in Tennessee or another offensive coordinatorship elsewhere, the Chiefs appear interested in bringing back a fixture of their Super Bowl rosters in the hopes of getting back to the promised land in 2027. Caitlin Clark sends heartfelt message to Indiana football before national title game
The Indiana football program is currently gearing up for the national championship game, which will take place on Monday evening against the Miami Hurricanes. The Hoosiers have had a dominant playoff run so far, blowing out both the Oregon Ducks and the Alabama Crimson Tide en route to the game’s biggest stage, and they will look to secure their first national title in school history against the Hurricanes. To say that the Hoosiers have the full support of their home state would be an understatement, and earlier in the day on Monday, Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark took to social media with a special message for Indiana ahead of the big game. “Best of luck to @IndianaFootball we are all pulling for you !! Get it done,” wrote Clark on X, formerly Twitter. Indiana football has been dominant throughout this season, having not lost a game so far this year and really only coming close to doing so on a couple of occasions. The Hoosiers will be taking on a Miami team that was let into the playoff in a controversial decision over Notre Dame, but has more than justified that choice from the committee with their play thus far, knocking off the Texas A&M Aggies, Ohio State Buckeyes, and Ole Miss Rebels in order to punch their ticket to the championship game. The Miami defensive front is full of future NFL talent and will present a big challenge for Indiana, but if Fernando Mendoza has even just a little bit of time in the pocket, he has proven more than capable of making big plays with consistency on this run. After watching the Indiana Pacers and the Indiana Fever come up short in the playoffs throughout the last 12 months, Indiana fans will hope that the Hoosiers are finally able to bring a championship home to the state. NFL rumors: Sean McDermott seen as head coach candidate for Ravens, Titans
While the Baltimore Ravens scheduled a second interview with Anthony Weaver, the Titans are kicking the tires of a pair of coordinators. But according to NFL rumors, former Bills coach Sean McDermott is seen as a candidate for the Ravens and the Titans. It makes a sensible fit, according to a post on X, formerly Twitter by the Rich Eisen Show. “Where could Sean McDermott potentially land next?” Tom Pelissero said. “Baltimore is certainly one that I could see making a lot of sense for Sean McDermott. And the other one would be Tennessee. “We know the Titans have pursued John Harbaugh. They wanted to speak to Kevin Stefanski before he took Atlanta. Given the aggressiveness of Tennessee, they’ve got a quarterback. Great place to live. New stadium opening. There are aspects of that job I would say don’t count them out for Sean McDermott.” @TomPelissero Who's on #BillsMafia head coach radar after they fired Sean McDermott after nine seasons?#NFL #NFLPlayoffs pic.twitter.com/L35OS15kts — Rich Eisen Show (@RichEisenShow) January 19, 2026 Where would Sean McDermott likely avoid? Because of his previous success, McDermott likely wouldn’t take over a rebuilding process. “It doesn’t make a ton of sense for him to go into a total rebuild,” Pelissero said. “He’s 51 years old. He’s been there every year, been in the playoffs every season here in recent years.: That likely rules out the Raiders and Cardinals, Pelissero said. One thing that seems certain is that McDermott will land somewhere. Even though he hasn’t gotten over the hump, there seems to be a belief in NFL circles that he could get there. Still, McDermott got ushered out of Buffalo because he fell short too many times, according to ESPN. “He didn’t finish the job,” Alaina Getzenberg wrote. “In a results business, McDermott was incredibly successful, winning 10 or more games in seven straight seasons, the longest active streak in the NFL. The Bills are one of six teams in the Super Bowl era to have a streak that long. “The firing comes down to what McDermott didn’t do, but perhaps more substantially, a clear decision by (owner Terry) Pegula to go with (general manager) Brandon Beane’s vision for the team moving forward. And the general manager winning out in receiving the owner’s faith in building the vision for the future.” However, the problem with Beane is that he hasn’t acquired good enough receiving weapons for Josh Allen. Beane stood behind his decision to go into this season with a receiver room that looked weak. And then it played weak. By all rights, Beane should have been first out of the door. Bears’ Rome Odunze gives harsh review of his disappointing 2025 season
The Chicago Bears and their fans are forced to confront familiar feelings following Sunday’s 20-17 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Divisional Round. The franchise’s once incomprehensible Super Bowl dream was much clearer in the final minutes of this bitterly cold playoffs clash, but a Caleb Williams interception and subsequent LA scoring drive ended an exhilarating season. The team is not wallowing in self-pity, though. The theme of the day is growth. Chicago has plenty to appreciate after a terrific run that included an NFC North title and its first postseason win in 15 years. The Bears also know there is much they can improve on before the 2026-27 campaign begins. Rome Odunze is one such individual whose continued development will be crucial. The 23-year-old wide receiver was painfully honest while reflecting on his uneven season. Despite battling loads of injury adversity, Odunze knows he fell short of meeting expectations. “At the end of the day, we all play with different injuries and different things that we go through, so I gotta step through and proceed to be a catalyst to this team’s success, and I don’t feel like I did that well enough this season,” he told reporters on Monday, via the CHGO Bears X account, after recording two receptions for 44 yards versus the Rams. “It’s going back to the drawing board {and} trying to look at some of the things with my routine or maybe my preparation that I can change, so I can be the player I need to be for this team.” “I gotta step through and proceed to be a catalyst to this team’s success and I don’t feel like I did that well enough this season.” Rome Odunze reflects on ups and downs of 2025 season: pic.twitter.com/lDIQIIseuW — CHGO Bears (@CHGO_Bears) January 19, 2026 Odunze was living up to the lofty standards that were set when the organization selected him with the No. 9 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, scoring five touchdowns in the first four games of the campaign. He could not sustain the high level of production, however, and his health only made matters worse. The 6-foot-3 wideout endured ankle and heel issues before suffering a stress fracture in his foot. He missed the final five games of the regular season but pushed through the pain for the playoffs. Although fans appreciated Odunze’s perseverance, he did not make a consistent impact on the field. The 2023 All-American finished his second NFL season with 44 catches for 661 yards and six touchdowns. Rome Odunze significantly progressed from a statistical standpoint, but he still has to prove he can regularly be a primary option in the Bears’ passing attack. Based on his comments, the young talent is ready to hit the offseason hard. The post Bears’ Rome Odunze gives harsh review of his disappointing 2025 season appeared first on ClutchPoints.
