Dolphins Get Crushing News After Steelers Loss
The Miami Dolphins have officially been eliminated from postseason contention as they lost 28-15 to the Steelers on Monday Night Football. The Dolphins opened the game with a 3-0 lead, but failed to bounce back after the Steelers scored 28 straight points. The Dolphins have now extended their playoff win drought, which is the longest in the NFL. They have not won a playoff game since the 2000 season. Ramifications for the Dolphins GettyMike McDaniel For the Miami Dolphins, everything is now on the table. After their 2-7 start, the Dolphins fired general manager Chris Grier. They then reeled off four straight wins, but failed to keep their momentum going in Pittsburgh. Thereâs been plenty of speculation regarding Mike McDanielâs job security, but this performance likely hurt his chances. Through four seasons, McDaniel has a 34-31 record with the Dolphins, but has failed to get Miami a playoff win. Prior to hiring him, the Dolphins had put together back-to-back winning seasons that didnât feature playoff appearances. Miamiâs head coach made the postseason in his first two seasons in Miami, but lost in the Wild Card round on both occasions. Some Dolphins players may find themselves out of a job as well. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has led Miami to a 44-32 record, but injuries and diminishing performances have resulted in him being a have raised questions about his long-term future with the Dolphins. With the loss, Tua dropped to 0-6 when playing in 40 degrees or lower.  The Dolphins quarterback now leads the NFL with 15 interceptions on the season. Tagovailoa still carries a $56 million cap hit in 2026, which may make it hard for the new Dolphins front office to move the former first-round pick. A Disappointing Miami Dolphins Season With the Dolphins facing elimination, they failed to snap the Steelersâ 22-game Monday Night Football home winning streak. After taking a 3-0 lead, the Steelers had four straight offensive possessions end in touchdowns. Miamiâs winning formula coming into the game had been winning the turnover battle and running the ball. They failed to do either of those things in Pittsburgh. The Dolphins started the year at 1-6, and failed to replicate the offensive firepower they displayed during the 2022 and 2023 seasons. Miamiâs schedule eased up as they won five out of six games to keep their season alive. In 2024, the Dolphins could rationalize their disappointing season by using injuries as an excuse. Starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa missed six games with a concussion and hip injury. In 2025, the Dolphins struggled even with him in the lineup. Miami did lose superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill earlier in the year, but they were already 0-3 at the time of the injury. After back-to-back seasons without making the playoffs, changes should be expected from the Dolphins. Following the 2024 season, owner Stephen Ross said, âWe will take a hard look at where we have fallen short and make the necessary changes to deliver our ultimate goal of building and sustaining a winning team that competes for championships.â Miamiâs 2025 season proved that those changes need to occur, what those changes will be remains to be seen. Rams Give Optimistic News Ahead Of Crucial Game Against Rival
The race for the number one seed in the NFC continues for the Los Angeles Rams, as they are currently tied with divisional rival, the Seattle Seahawks, after both teams won their respective games in Week 15.Now, a pivotal game is ahead for the Rams and Seahawks as both teams will face each other in an NFC West showdown on Thursday Night Football, with the winner taking sole possession of the top seed in the conference and the loser possibly being tied for the second-best seed with two more teams.Los Angeles will likely be without their best red zone target in Davante Adams, as he is currently dealing with a hamstring injury and is listed as week-to-week, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. But on the other hand, the Rams could receive some help on the offensive side of the ball with two players now eligible to come off the injured reserve list who can play a huge part in taking complete control of the first seed in the NFC.Rams OC Optimistic About Two Players On IR GettyThe Rams could receive some help in the Week 16 matchup against a rival The two longest tenured players on the Los Angeles Rams, tight end Tyler Higbee and offensive lineman Rob Havenstein, are both eligible to return from IR after dealing with their respective injuries. In a game that could likely seal the team’s fate to get the bye in the first round of the playoffs, it would be crucial to get two players who have a lot of chemistry with Matthew Stafford.Rams offensive coordinator asked about the possibility of either player being activated ahead of the game with the Seahawks, but left an indirect answer.“Those are some things kind of like [Davante Adams] in terms of stuff we’re probably gonna discuss later in the day,” Mike LaFleur said. The OC also refers to head coach Sean McVay, who will have the answers on whether the team will use either of the three players on TNF.In 9 games for the Rams this season, Higbee has hauled in 20 receptions for 190 yards and 2 touchdowns. On the offensive front, Haventstein has allowed only 1 sack in the 7 games he has played in his 11th year in the NFL.In a game that would be a huge step in helping the Rams lock the number one seed, LA could use some experienced help on the roster.$22.5 Million Offensive Weapon Shining In Recent Weeks GettyColby Parkinson is taking advantage of his opportunity The Los Angeles Rams’ tight end position has seen a major improvement in production over the last few weeks.Colby Parkinson has been the main tight end in the position group since Higbee went down and he is making the most of it.In the four games since Tyler Higbee has been on IR, Parkinson has registered 175 receiving yards (almost the same amount as Higbee’s season total) and four touchdown passes.Parkinson is also on track to have his career best in receiving yards at 322, while currently having 298 yards. The tight end is playing his best football as the number one option at the position, but those numbers could dwindle if Higbee returns to the lineup any time soon.
