Wild video shows Indiana football fans taking over Miami
When Indiana football coach Curt Cignetti told fans to “get your tickets now,” he probably didn’t expect them to literally annex South Florida. Hard Rock Stadium became “Bloomington South” on Monday night as No. 1 Indiana took on the No. 10 Miami Hurricanes in the College Football Playoff National Championship. Despite the game being played in the Hurricanes’ backyard, Pete Thamel reported a staggering 60-40 fan split in favor of the Hoosiers. The “sea of red” was so deafening that even Tom Brady and Raiders owner Mark Davis had to pull up to the sidelines to see the spectacle for themselves. SAFE TO SAY THIS IS AN INDIANA HOME GAME. WE TOOK MIAMI OVER. #IUFB pic.twitter.com/1NScO2FYWH — Handshake Bets (@HandshakeBets) January 20, 2026 The energy wasn’t just in the stands. On the field, Indiana’s offense, led by Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza, looked every bit like the juggernaut that entered the night 15-0. Mendoza, the California transfer who has been a revelation for the Indiana Hoosiers, came into the game leading the nation with 41 passing touchdowns. On the other side, Miami leaned on quarterback Carson Beck, who tried to weather the storm for a “Cinderella” Hurricanes squad. While Beck threw for over 3,500 yards during the season, he faced an Indiana defense that allowed a stingy 11.1 points per game. Indiana entered the night with a nation-leading 71.6% completion rate. Whether it’s the NIL-era blueprint or just the “Cignetti Effect,” Indiana has officially flipped the script on its “basketball school” reputation. With 100,000 square feet of momentum and a fan base that travels like an invading army, the Hoosiers aren’t just participating in the playoff; they’re taking it over. Bengals’ Joe Burrow breaks X silence to weighs in on playoff catch controversy
When Joe Burrow speaks, the NFL world listens. But when the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback breaks a months-long social media silence to defend league officiating, people lose their minds. Following a chaotic Divisional Round weekend, Burrow took to X, formerly Twitter, for the first time since 2023 to address the “what is a catch” debate that hijacked the national conversation. Two specific plays, one involving the Buffalo Bills and another in the Chicago Bears vs. Los Angeles Rams matchup, left fans irate. Burrow, however, isn’t buying the outrage. “The amount of ppl that don’t understand what a catch is in the rule book flabbergasts me,” Burrow posted. “And it’s not the officials. The two plays yesterday were not difficult calls, and they got them both right.” The controversy centered on bang-bang plays where receivers appeared to lose control while hitting the turf. In the Bills’ narrow loss to the Denver Broncos, a crucial interception was upheld in what was a scrappy catch. Later, the Rams benefitted from a similar ruling against the Bears. While fans screamed for consistency, the stats tell the story of how tight these games were. In the Bills’ loss, Josh Allen threw for 283 yards and three touchdowns, relying on those contested catches to move the chains. Burrow, who spent the latter half of the season recovering from injury, clearly spent his downtime studying the nuances of the NFL rulebook. His “strong statement” serves as a reminder that while the catch rule remains the most polarizing topic in sports, the players on the field often see the game differently than the fans in the stands. Whether you agree with “Joe Cool” or not, his return to social media has officially turned up the heat on the road to the Super Bowl. Bucs and Baker Mayfields failed OC interviewing for job with the Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles made a run to the postseason this past season and won the NFC East while having all sorts of offensive issues. The issues were out in the open for most of the season, with Jalen Hurts and AJ Brown seemingly arguing every week. The nail in the coffin was how this offense looked against the 49ers in their wild-card loss, and Kevin Patullo was ultimately let go. The Eagles are running through a handful of candidates for the opening, and one of them is former Buccaneers offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard. NFL insider Jordan Schultz was the first report the news. He was initially fired from the Buccaneers after Tampa Bay collapsed near the end of the year and ended the season missing the postseason. The Tampa Bay offense was a key reason for their collapse. Grizzard was the passing game coordinator for the Buccaneers in 2024, and he was promoted to full-time offensive coordinator in 2025 after Liam Coen left to become the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Then, he was fired for their most recent collapse. It is also worth noting that Grizzard is the third candidate to have interviewed with the Eagles to date. Former Giants offensive coordinator and interim head coach Mike Kafka, a one-time Eagles draft pick, and Falcons offensive coordinator Zac Robinson also interviewed for the position. Other known candidates to replace Kevin Patullo are Colts offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter, former Giants head coach Brian Daboll, and Dolphins senior passing game coordinator Bobby Slowik. Grizzard began his coaching career in 2012 as an intern with the Panthers under former Eagles linebackers coach Ron Rivera. After stops at Yale and Duke, he joined the Dolphins under Adam Gase as a quality control coach. When Brian Flores replaced Gase in 2019, he kept Grizzard and, in 2020, promoted him to wide receivers coach. Mike McDaniel also kept Grizzard when he replaced Flores in 2022, and he remained in Miami through 2023 when the Bucs hired him. Vic Fangio was McDaniel’s defensive coordinator in Grizzard’s final year in Miami. This would be a surprising upgrade if the Eagles hired him.
