Report: Lane Kiffin threatening to poach Ole Miss coaches and players
Jan 1, 2022; New Orleans, LA, USA; Mississippi Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin reacts during warm ups before the 2022 Sugar Bowl against the Baylor Bears at the Caesars Superdome. Mandatory Credit: Chuck Cook-USA TODAY Sports The Lane Kiffin situation at Ole Miss has gotten even messier. Ole Miss fans have been waiting for weeks to hear whether Kiffin will be ditching them in the middle of their College Football Playoff season. It’s seems like a certainty that Kiffin will leave for LSU, but the problem is he wants to have his Rebels cake and eat it too. On3 reporter Brett McMurphy reported Saturday night that Kiffin wants to finish the season as Ole Miss’ head coach before taking the LSU job. McMurphy says Kiffin is even “threatening to poach” the Ole Miss coaching staff and players if they don’t let him coach the rest of the way. Lane Kiffin is “essentially demanding to finish the season (w/Ole Miss) while simultaneously threatening to poach” Ole Miss’ roster & staff if he can’t, source told @On3sports. “It’s unfortunately gotten even messier than expected as emotions are high” https://t.co/gBcvHKk3Ps— Brett McMurphy (@Brett_McMurphy) November 30, 2025 Kiffin is probably going to poach Ole Miss’ players and coaches no matter what, so it may just be up to Ole Miss to decide whether they will let him coach their team in the CFP. If you’re in their position, it would be hard to want a guy coaching another team in your conference at the same time. If you’re Kiffin, you’re probably trying to have the best of both worlds — finish off what you started at Ole Miss before heading off to what you feel are greener pastures at LSU. The SEC Championship Game has been set, and it will be Alabama against Georgia. Ole Miss won’t play again until the CFP, which will make it an awkward few weeks for the Rebels. Auburn loses Iron Bowl on costly fumble by Cam Coleman
Auburn lost the Iron Bowl to rival Alabama 27-20 at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, Ala., on Saturday night, and a fumble by Cam Coleman cost them at the end. The Tigers went into halftime down 17-6 but rallied in the second half to tie the game at 20. Bama had scored with 3:50 left to make it 27-20, but Auburn didn’t count themselves out. The Tigers began what would be a 12-play drive and had a 1st-and-10 at the Alabama 27. Cam Coleman caught a quick pass and ran for a gain of seven, but he had the ball knocked out for a fumble that was recovered by Alabama. BRUTAL fumble late for Auburn 😳 pic.twitter.com/em31zp00aZ— Underdog (@Underdog) November 30, 2025 Auburn had some momentum, and they were driving to potentially tie the game until that lost fumble by Coleman. Though they recovered the fumble, Alabama didn’t run out the clock. They ended up punting with 18 seconds left on 4th-and-5, and Auburn muffed the punt, though the ball went out of bounds. Coleman finished with 5 catches for 43 yards. He was understandably heartbroken after that. pic.twitter.com/xbkttoyQnW— no context college football (@nocontextcfb) November 30, 2025 Cam Coleman exits the field following Auburn’s 27-20 loss to Alabama in the Iron Bowl. He’s Auburn’s best player, but that fumble will haunt him for the rest of his life.Gut wrenching stuff.@abc3340 pic.twitter.com/OtokzAnAFm— Johnny Congdon (@congdonsation) November 30, 2025 Coleman, a sophomore receiver, has 57 catches for 725 yards and 5 touchdowns this season, plus that fumble. UTEP coach blasts Delaware coach Ryan Carty for ‘classless’ move
UTEP coach Scotty Walden blasted Delaware coach Ryan Carty for what he felt was a “classless” move committed at the end of the Blue Hens’ 61-31 win over the Miners on Sunday. Walden’s Miners were demolished by Carty’s Blue Hens. Delaware never trailed and led by double-digits on multiple occasions. They pulled away with two touchdowns in the fourth quarter, the second of which made the score 55-31 with 4:25 left. Delaware still kicked a field goal with 2:09 left, and they added a final field goal with 43 seconds left following a turnover on downs by UTEP. Moreover, Delaware called a timeout in order to set up their final field goal. Walden had a not-so-pleasant message to Carty when they met for the postgame handshake. Scotty Walden didn’t take kindly to Delaware’s late field goal that sealed the 61-31 loss. https://t.co/oc8QtqPDyg pic.twitter.com/dMQTIwIpH3— Sam Guzman (@SamGuzmanTV) November 29, 2025 Walden also addressed matters after the game. “I think it’s an incredibly classless move by Delaware, and they ought to be embarrassed, calling a timeout and kicking the last field goal there. I think it’s an embarrassing look on their head coach. I think it’s an embarrassing look on their program,” Walden said after the game, via Adrian Broaddus. UTEP head coach Scotty Walden didn’t appreciate the decision by Delaware coach Ryan Carty. The Blue Hens finished the year 6-6 after their 61-31 win. The point spread for the game was around 4.5 points too, so it’s not like that extra field goal made a difference, except for enhancing the legacy of Delaware’s kicker. Tennessee fan breaks down crying during loss to Vandy
A Tennessee Volunteers fan drew attention online Saturday, and not for a good reason. The Volunteers lost at home 45-24 to the rival Vanderbilt Commodores at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tenn. The loss dropped Tennessee to 8-4 and improved Vanderbilt to an impressive 10-2 — records few people saw coming for the 2025 season. Nothing captured the feeling of Tennessee fans watching their team get blown out by Vandy quite like the Vols fan who was shown crying on TV. pic.twitter.com/WNdqb4DloP— no context college football (@nocontextcfb) November 30, 2025 SEC fans are so intense that many of them took delight in watching that Vols fan cry. Nothing hits like Vols fans crying in their own house. Chef’s kiss. No notes.— Jessica Malnik (@jessicamalnik) November 30, 2025 Dear God it’s beautiful 🤩— UGA Rush (@uga_rush) November 30, 2025 That’s what we call “Voluntears.” That’s the first time under Josh Heupel that Tennessee has lost to Vanderbilt. Vols fans are hoping that will be the last time it happens. The post Tennessee fan breaks down crying during loss to Vandy appeared first on Larry Brown Sports.
