Florida hotel worker accused of stealing Miami Hurricanes championship ring
Miami Beach Police arrested an employee at the iconic Fontainebleau hotel, alleging that he stole a Miami Hurricanes championship ring from the lobby. Police said the theft happened Sunday at the same hotel where the team was staying for the championship game on Monday. According to an arrest report, surveillance video showed a man – later identified as Jean Dor – picking up a ring from the hotel lobby, placing it into his pocket and then walking away with it. The ring belonged to Cari-Anne Constant, who was wearing a larger male version of the University of Miami championship ring that had belonged to her former husband. She received the ring as the co-captain of the Sunsations dance team. Constant took it to a party at the LIV nightclub inside the hotel, a celebration for the championship game between the Hurricanes and the Hoosiers, which she attended with her boyfriend, Joe Mullins. “That ring was very special to her,” Mullins said. He said Constant took it off momentarily and put it on the table. As she walked out of the hotel, she realized it was missing. Investigators said surveillance video shows Dor leaving the property, examining the ring outside, then re-entering the hotel with it still in his possession. Dor never turned the ring into lost and found or notified hotel staff, police said. “She was pretty shocked. It was very disturbing to her that the ring was stolen,” Mullins said. “It’s worth about $3,500 is what they paid for it.” Dor told police he intended to turn the ring in but claimed he forgot it on a bathroom counter while cleaning a restroom. Officers said he was read his Miranda rights in Creole and signed a written statement acknowledging he found the ring and failed to return it. Dor was suspended from his job, trespassed from the Fontainebleau property, and taken into custody. “It’s more sentimental,” Mullins said. “It means more to her. I hope he does the right thing and returning it.” NBC Miami reached out to both the hotel and police for the surveillance footage and a comment on the man accused of stealing the ring, but we have not heard back yet. E.U. halts approval of U.S. trade deal after Trump's Greenland tariff threat
The European Union’s legislative body on Wednesday halted work on the formal approval and implementation of the trade deal it reached last summer with President Donald Trump. “Given the continued and escalating threats, including tariff threats, against Greenland and Denmark, and their European allies, we have been left with no alternative but to suspend work” on the deal, said Bernd Lange, the chairman of the European Parliament’s international trade committee. “Until the US decides to re-engage on a path of cooperation rather than confrontation,” no steps to move the deal forward would be taken, Lange said in a statement. “Our sovereignty and territorial integrity are at stake,” he added in a post on X. “Business as usual impossible.” US & World Trump administration Jan 19 Trump links Greenland threats to Nobel snub as Europe eyes tariff retaliation NATO Jan 12 How NATO works at a time of Trump's Greenland threats Trump administration Jan 5 Trump revisits possible Greenland annexation over national security concerns The announcement came after Trump on Saturday said he would hit seven European Union countries, plus the U.K., with tariffs if they did not allow the United States to control Greenland. The E.U. trade deal was reached in July during a visit by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to Trump’s golf club in Turnberry, Scotland. The core of the deal was a cap on U.S. tariffs applied to most imports from the E.U. at just 15%. The rate was among the lowest received by any trading partner last year. Some imports from the E.U., such as generic pharmaceuticals would have had all tariffs removed. In exchange for the lower tariff rate, the European Union, America’s largest trading partner, would have lowered tariffs on some goods it imports from the United States. This would have helped American agricultural and industrial companies sell products into the 27-country bloc. When the deal was first announced, the European Commission said it “restores stability and predictability.” But all that changed with Trump’s Saturday tariff threat. “In politics as in business, a deal is a deal” Von der Leyen said on Tuesday at the World Economic Forum. “And when friends shake hands, it must mean something.”

Taylor Swift called Justin Baldoni an expletive, texts in Blake Lively lawsuit reveal
Pop superstar Taylor Swift called “It Ends With Us” actor Justin Baldoni an expletive in a text message with Blake Lively, according to messages unsealed Tuesday as part of an ongoing legal battle. The messages were unsealed as part of Lively’s lawsuit against Baldoni, her co-star in the 2024 film “It Ends With Us,” Wayfarer Studios and others, litigation that has been going on for over a year. According to the court document, which Lively’s lawyers filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Manhattan, Swift wrote, “I think this bitch knows something is coming because he’s gotten out his tiny violin.” Blake Lively, Justin Baldoni and Taylor Swift. In the motion, Lively’s lawyers confirmed the quoted language but disputed the defense’s assertion that it was said while Swift and Lively were discussing — on Dec. 4 and 5, 2024 — a forthcoming New York Times article that reported that Baldoni and the CEO of Wayfarer had launched a “retaliatory ‘smear campaign’” against Lively. Representatives for Swift did not immediately respond to a request for comment Tuesday night. Swift licensed a song for “It Ends With Us” but was not otherwise involved in the film, Swift’s spokesperson said last year, when there was an attempt to subpoena her as a possible witness in the trial. Celebrity News 15 hours ago Taylor Swift and Blake Lively's texts about Justin Baldoni drama revealed Celebrity News Dec 29, 2025 Sean ‘Diddy' Combs to Blake Lively & Justin Baldoni: Major celebrity court cases of 2025 Sigrid McCawley, a member of Lively’s legal team, said Tuesday that the new filing includes “damning” statements about Baldoni from other people. “The newly unsealed, damning documents show the consistent reaction numerous women, cast, crew, executives, partners, co-host and even his own PR team had working with Justin Baldoni,” McCawley said. A publicist for Baldoni did not respond to a request for comment Tuesday night. An attorney listed as representing him in the federal lawsuit also did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment. A spokesperson for Wayfarer declined to comment. Tuesday’s motion deals with the re-filing of public versions of exhibits that were part of an earlier motion by Lively’s attorneys opposing a summary judgment in the case. An attorney for Baldoni previously called the allegations in the lawsuit “completely false, outrageous and intentionally salacious.” Lively first filed a complaint with the California Civil Rights Department on Dec. 20, 2024, that accused Baldoni of sexual harassment during filming of “It Ends With Us,” as well as retaliation against Lively after she raised issues about his on-set behavior. She filed a federal civil lawsuit against Baldoni, who is also a co-founder and co-owner of Wayfarer Studios and who directed “It Ends With Us,” on Dec. 31, 2024. In February, she filed an amended complaint against Baldoni, the company, the company’s CEO and others. Baldoni filed a countersuit against Lively seeking $400 million, but a federal judge dismissed it in June and formally ended it in November after an amended complaint was not filed by a court-set deadline. Lively’s amended complaint, which does not name a dollar amount, seeks compensatory and punitive damages. It alleges that there was a “multi-tiered plan” by Baldoni and his team to destroy her reputation. In “It Ends With Us,” Lively plays Lily Bloom, a woman who moves to Boston with a dream of opening a flower shop and marries neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid, played by Baldoni. The film explores Bloom’s decision to break a cycle of domestic abuse and divorce him. Emmy Beck-Aden contributed.

Luxury Western retailer helps rodeo fans find the perfect fit
The Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo often picks a theme to showcase something special about the event. For instance, the 2020 theme of “Dream It. Do It.” celebrated the rodeo’s move to Dickies Arena. “Show Life” in 2023 reflected the life of kids who raise and show livestock and rodeo competitors. For 2026, the theme of “Always A Perfect Fit” is a nod to the comfort the show brings from things familiar like the host city of Fort Worth and 23 days of fun. It’s akin to the comfort you feel wearing an old pair of blue jeans or a favorite cowboy hat. When it comes to cowboy hats, there are few things to know about finding the perfect fit. “Our goal is to have a hat that fits everyone. It fits their personality. It fits their frame, and we want them to feel good, look good, and feel important when they come into our store to see us,” said Aaron Gaiser, general manager at Kemo Sabe. The high-end western wear store is back for a second year with a pop up shop in the Fort Worth Stockyards whle the stock show is in town. Shoppers come in to get rodeo ready and find the perfect hat. Gaiser likes to say, “We didn’t invent the cowboy hat, we just made it a little bit cooler.” The pricey Kemo Sabe hat has been called the most famous hat in the world, but whether it’s here or somewhere else, there are a few basic things to know. Let’s start with how to put it on. “You don’t want to see anyone walking around with their hat on backwards. So we’re here to help educate and make sure that you leave with the right sized hat,” Gaiser said. “The way you will always know if your hat’s on backwards, this should always go in the back,” Gaiser said as she pointed to stitching. “So, if you always take your hat on and off by the crown, it’ll always be on right. What people do is they like to look at the hat, they like to take it, and then somehow it always ends up on backwards. If you are handling it properly, you will never put it on backwards.” Gaiser says the brim length is important for a perfect fit especially for women. It’s not a one-size fits all. “We’re not having you wear a five and a half inch brim because you’re not a six foot tall man. And, so we brought the brim down to fit you instead of a one size fits all brim,” Gaiser said. And, if it feels like the hat is about to blow off walking down the street or you’re holding it down with your hand, then it’s the wrong fit. Gaiser says customers come in with hats bought elsewhere and her team is ready to help them get a perfect fit. “So our goal is for you not to leave in the wrong size hat but if you do have the wrong size hat, there are some tricks with the trade,” Gaiser said. “We can snug them up.We can help them fit a little better.” Kemo Sabe started in Aspen in 1990, but there’s a Texas connection. It’s hats are made in Gainesville, about an hour or so north of Dallas-Fort Worth. Kemo Sabe’s line of boots are made in El Paso. The pop up shop at 128 E. Exchange Ave, Suite 570 is open Wednesday – Sunday, from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. It will be open until Sunday, Feb. 1.
