South Florida husband and wife car dealers arrested in alleged title fraud scheme
A South Florida husband and wife who own a luxury car dealership are facing charges in an alleged title fraud scheme involving multiple vehicles, authorities said. Michael Anthony Lucci, 32, and Emily Marie Lucci, 30, are facing more than three dozen charges including nine counts of making a false statement in an application for a bill of sale, nine counts of perjury by false written declaration, nine counts of uttering forged instruments, nine counts of possessing counterfeit vehicle title or registration, one count of organized fraud, and one count of racketeering, arrest reports said. The pair were arrested Wednesday following an investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol involving their business, Luxury Auto Source in Davie, the reports said. Michael Anthony Lucci and Emily Marie Lucci According to the reports, FHP began investigating a title fraud involving the submission of fraudulent parts invoices to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles for a 2020 Nissan GT-R. Emily Lucci had submitted documentation at a tag agency in Miami-Dade to obtain a certificate of title, and included was a parts invoice that claimed repairs to multiple major components totaling over $18,000, the reports said. But the invoice was fictitious and the real invoice was around $1,200, and the vehicle was listed for sale for $94,500 after having been sold in 2022 for $55,000, the reports said. Investigators started looking into all vehicles listed for sale by the business and found eight other vehicles had rebuilt titles issued by Florida with fraudulent invoices submitted during the process, the reports said. The vehicles included a 2022 Porsche 911 with a price of $187,900, a 2017 Bentley with a price of $63,900, a 2020 Toyota Supra with a price of $36,900, a 2018 BMW M3 for sale for $37,900, a 2023 Cadillac Escalade for $56,900, and a 2022 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat for $52,900, the reports said. The Dodge was found with multiple VINs and the motor belonged to a vehicle stolen out of North Carolina, the reports said. “At the conclusion of my review, I identified nine vehicles currently offered for sale by Luxury Auto Source LLC that were titled through the submission of fraudulent or manipulated parts invoices to DHSMV,” an investigator wrote in the arrest reports. “These vehicles constitute contraband, as their titles were obtained through fraudulent means. These vehicles, and potentially additional vehicles sold through this dealership, present a significant risk to innocent purchasers, who may unknowingly buy vehicles subject to seizure and forfeiture, resulting in both the loss of the vehicle and associated funds due to their status as contraband.” On Wednesday, the FHP executed a search warrant at the business and took Michael Lucci into custody. Emily Lucci drove herself to jail to surrender, the reports said. Both appeared in court on Thursday where they were granted $30,000 bonds.

Waymo welcomes first Miami riders into a self-driving car. NBC6 takes you inside
It’s been more than a year since drivers have seen the fully self-driving cars, decked out in cameras and radars, taking over the streets of Miami. Starting Thursday, the cars will be getting an upgrade: now passengers will be able to ride them. More than 10,000 people have been on a waitlist for the opportunity to ride in a Waymo. Since November of 2024, the company has been getting to know the landscape of Miami—it’s bridges, neighborhoods, areas with high foot traffic, and more. For those not familiar with the company, Franklin Trujillo the Director of Commercialization Programs at Waymo explains: “Waymo is an autonomous vehicle company. We offer fully autonomous rides in comfortable electric vehicles, and we’re super super excited to be in Miami.” Miami is the sixth city rolling out Waymo rides to the public. Each ride can be booked inside of the Waymo app and costs around the same as other ride shares. It currently provides service to 60 square miles, as seen in this map. But what happens if you live or want to go somewhere outside of the designated area? “If you are looking for a destination outside of the current service area, it will give you an error that says we don’t yet service that area, so you can’t yet set it up to get stuck outside of that area,” Trujillo said. But you would be in luck if you are in Little Havana. Right off of 8th Street, a Waymo sits parked off the side of the road, lights blinking and lidars turning. It means the Waymo is at your service. When you hail the ride, it will show you the Waymo car closest to you. The app works similar to other ride share apps in that you can add destinations to your route. The car will remain locked until you select it. As soon as you select it, the passenger door handles will pop out, meaning that the car is unlocked and ready to ride. Once inside, the Waymo has all of the bells and whistles a regular car has: rearview mirror, controls, even windshield wipers. It’s all technology that is not needed for the driver (as there is none), but Waymo says it’s in place for the rider to feel more comfortable. And in the event you do not feel safe, something goes wrong, or you take too long to get out of the car once you have reached your destination, driver support is at the ready. But there’s other features. The car is equipped with 29 cameras, six radars, and five lidars. NBC6 saw them operate in real time. As we were about to cross an intersection, the car came to an immediate halt. The screen in the Waymo showed a blue car on the right hand side. “So this car is going the wrong way, and so Waymo saw it and did a veer around it,” explained Mark, a Waymo representative inside of the vehicle. As we came upon a complicated intersection that had bumper-to-bumper traffic, the route Waymo wanted to take called for a left. “But it may be too traffic-ky so we will see how the AI of the system will decide on how best to procced,” Mark said. And in less than two minutes, it slowly pushed forward, then continued on. The decision-making skills of the self-driving car bring up a frequent question: how will the public feel about trusting these self-driving vehicles? Mark says the company has “a tremendous amount of experience under us the last 16 years of development, the last five years of fully autonomous trips.” “Safety is our number one priority,” he goes on. “We’ve done over 127 million fully autonomous miles. And in those miles we have seen 10x fewer serious injury crashes, 5x fewer injury crashes, 5x fewer crashes with airbags, and 5x fewer injuries with pedestrians.” Soon the electric fleet will be available for more riders, as more and more people get off the waitlist and into the cars. There is no timeline for how soon they will be able to expand rideshare or their area coverage, but Waymo did note that other jurisdictions not in the current area scope will soon be partnering with the company.

Man defrauds company, steals more than 400 smart toilets in Miami: Police
A man was arrested after he allegedly defrauded a manufacturer of high-end bathroom products by stealing $400,000 worth of toilets and other materials. Paul Joe Gomez, 37, is accused of “diverting company merchandise,” including more than 400 toilets, from SW Corportation in a Brownsville, according to an arrest report. Gomez was caught after an employee became aware in Sept. 2025 that someone was advertising and selling SW Coportations Anzzi brand smart toilets through Facebook Marketplace. That employee told the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office that “the listings depicted Anzzi products being offered for sale at prices and in quantities inconsistent with legitimate retail distribution.” The employee then contacted the seller posing as an interested buyer, and was able to find out that the seller had access to bulk inventory, the arrest report states. The seller told the employee the date on which she’d received “a pallet of toilets,” allowing the employee to check surveillance cameras and internal records. When the employee checked the cameras, she saw inventory being removed without authorization into a moving truck, including 13 toilets on “pallets being loaded quickly and without paperwork.” Video on multiple other dates allegedly showed Gomez “loading pallets of toilets and tubs” into the moving truck, “indicating a repeated pattern of diverting company merchandise from the premises rather than a single isolated occurrence.” In early October, another employee reported that Gomez had “on numerous occasions, requested preparation of special orders of toilets requiring immediate pickup.” “When loaders or shipping personnel requested documentation or shipment paperwork for these special orders, defendant Gomez repeatedly stated the shipments were handled by him and that no paperwork was required, which is inconsistent with standard inventory and shipping controls for high-value product,” the arrest report describes. The sheriff’s office said that between June 23 and Sept. 29, 2025, Gomez at least 10 different times loaded or directed someone to load pallets of unauthorized merchandise, including toilets, tubs, shower doors and saunas, totaling over $400,000. When deputies went to arrest Gomez, he allegedly provided consent to search his vehicle, where detectives found several legal pads “containing quantities, dollar amounts, and notations including words such as toilets and water heaters.” Gomez also gave limited consent to “search his efficiency at the residence for toilets.” He was charged with first-degree grand theft and organized fraud and booked into Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
