South Florida husband and wife car dealers arrested in alleged title fraud scheme
A South Florida husband and wife who own a luxury car dealership are facing charges in an alleged title fraud scheme involving multiple vehicles, authorities said. Michael Anthony Lucci, 32, and Emily Marie Lucci, 30, are facing more than three dozen charges including nine counts of making a false statement in an application for a bill of sale, nine counts of perjury by false written declaration, nine counts of uttering forged instruments, nine counts of possessing counterfeit vehicle title or registration, one count of organized fraud, and one count of racketeering, arrest reports said. The pair were arrested Wednesday following an investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol involving their business, Luxury Auto Source in Davie, the reports said. Michael Anthony Lucci and Emily Marie Lucci According to the reports, FHP began investigating a title fraud involving the submission of fraudulent parts invoices to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles for a 2020 Nissan GT-R. Emily Lucci had submitted documentation at a tag agency in Miami-Dade to obtain a certificate of title, and included was a parts invoice that claimed repairs to multiple major components totaling over $18,000, the reports said. But the invoice was fictitious and the real invoice was around $1,200, and the vehicle was listed for sale for $94,500 after having been sold in 2022 for $55,000, the reports said. Investigators started looking into all vehicles listed for sale by the business and found eight other vehicles had rebuilt titles issued by Florida with fraudulent invoices submitted during the process, the reports said. The vehicles included a 2022 Porsche 911 with a price of $187,900, a 2017 Bentley with a price of $63,900, a 2020 Toyota Supra with a price of $36,900, a 2018 BMW M3 for sale for $37,900, a 2023 Cadillac Escalade for $56,900, and a 2022 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat for $52,900, the reports said. The Dodge was found with multiple VINs and the motor belonged to a vehicle stolen out of North Carolina, the reports said. “At the conclusion of my review, I identified nine vehicles currently offered for sale by Luxury Auto Source LLC that were titled through the submission of fraudulent or manipulated parts invoices to DHSMV,” an investigator wrote in the arrest reports. “These vehicles constitute contraband, as their titles were obtained through fraudulent means. These vehicles, and potentially additional vehicles sold through this dealership, present a significant risk to innocent purchasers, who may unknowingly buy vehicles subject to seizure and forfeiture, resulting in both the loss of the vehicle and associated funds due to their status as contraband.” On Wednesday, the FHP executed a search warrant at the business and took Michael Lucci into custody. Emily Lucci drove herself to jail to surrender, the reports said. Both appeared in court on Thursday where they were granted $30,000 bonds.

Massive great white shark returns to South Florida after journey to Canada
A massive great white shark has returned to the waters off Florida after a year-long journey that took it up to Canada and back. Contender, a 13-foot, 9-inch male great white weighing 1,653 pounds has been tracked since January of 2025, according to OCEARCH, a marine research group based in Jacksonville that monitors shark movements. The group first tagged Contender about 45 miles off the Florida-Georgia coast on Jan. 17, 2025, and in the year since, the shark has traveled far. In March, he was still off the Florida coast but then headed north, until he was tracked near the Gulf of Maine in July. On Sept. 29, he pinged in the Gulf of St. Lawrence near Newfoundland, Canada. But last week, Contender began pinging off Vero Beach about a year after he was first tagged. According to OCEARCH, in 367 days Contender has traveled around 5,294 miles. OCEARCH will be tracking Contender for five years in the hopes of better understanding his migration patterns and to gather data to help protect sharks and the ocean ecosystem.

Arrest made in armed home invasion robbery of UM defensive back Bryce Fitzgerald
At least one suspect has been arrested in connection with the armed home invasion robbery in Florida City involving a University of Miami football player earlier this month, records showed. Terrell Jermaine Lipscomb, Jr., 19, of Opa-locka, was arrested Wednesday on a charge of home invasion robbery with a firearm in the Jan. 10 robbery of Hurricanes defensive back Bryce Fitzgerald, an arrest report said. Terrell Jermaine Lipscomb Jr. According to the report, Fitzgerald told police he was attending a birthday party at an Airbnb in the 500 block of Northwest 7th Street when the lights went out and three masked males wearing all black came through the front door. Fitzgerald said they came up to him and said “where is the chain, give up the chain” while one suspect put a rifle to his head, the report said. The suspect hit Fitzgerald three times in the leg with the butt of the rifle before Fitzgerald handed over the chain, and the suspects fled, the report said. A witness who was at the home later identified Lipscomb as one of the robbers, the report said. Investigators contacted Lipscomb’s mother on Wednesday saying they needed to speak with him, and he later showed up at the Florida City Police Department. Lipscomb initially said he was at a friend’s house in Homestead the night of the robbery but then stopped the interview, the report said. He was arrested and booked into jail. The report said another suspect, 20-year-old Rashiem Damadre Lipscomb, was in custody in connection with the robbery, but he wasn’t listed in jail records and his charges were unknown. Fitzgerald, a freshman from Miami who played football at Christopher Columbus High School, later told NBC6 it was a “scary moment” when he was robbed.
