Jack Schlossberg, member of Kennedy political dynasty, is running for Congress

Jack Schlossberg, the only grandson of late President John F. Kennedy and Jackie Kennedy Onassis, announced Tuesday night that he’s running for U.S. Congress. The 32-year-old son of Caroline Kennedy and Edwin Schlossberg said he’s running for the New York City seat long held by U.S. Rep. Jerry Nadler, D-NY, who in September announced he will retire. “I’m running for Congress to represent my home, New York’s 12th…

Former Judicial Clerks: Creating Legacies For Generations

Legacy Matters Among a president’s most enduring legacies are the federal judges they appoint—particularly Supreme Court justices. This permanence stems from life tenure, a constitutional provision that ensures judicial independence but also transforms each appointment into a generational bet on the nation’s legal future. Yet history is littered with presidential miscalculations. President Eisenhower famously called…

Roope Hintz lifts Stars to comeback overtime win over Senators

Dallas scored three straight goals, and Roope Hintz scored at 3:04 of overtime to lift the Stars over the Ottawa Senators 3-2 on Tuesday night. Linus Ullmark made a couple of big saves, but Hintz capped off the come-from-behind victory. Mikko Rantanen and Jason Robertson also scored for the Stars, who outshot the Senators 16-6 in the third. Trailing 2-1, the Stars came out pressing in the third and were rewarded on…

‘It said nine dollars': Dallas woman shares experience amid Supreme Court SNAP decision

In the nation’s capital, the House Rules Committee met Tuesday to take up a funding package to reopen the government. Lawmakers are expected to vote on Wednesday. With a possible end to the shutdown in sight, the Supreme Court extended the freeze on a lower court ruling ordering the Trump administration to pay full Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, benefits in November. That means, for now, the government does not have to distribute about $4 billion in additional SNAP funding. The Supreme Court’s pause remains in place until midnight on Thursday. Some SNAP payments have trickled in for some recipients in North Texas, but many people say they’re not receiving even half their normal pay. NBC 5 spoke to a Dallas woman who received nine dollars for this month’s SNAP deposit. She asked that her identity be withheld, but said she’s the primary caregiver for two teenage grandsons. Under normal circumstances, she’d receive $284. “Yesterday, when I saw my card and it said $9, it liked to knock me off my feet,” she said. “I called the state to see if that was all I was getting. The equivalent of three dollars per person.” She said she wanted to share her story because she knows she’s not alone. Some of her family and neighbors checked their SNAP accounts to see just a fraction of their normal benefits. One of her neighbors shared her November status with NBC 5 as well. It was zero. Even if the government shutdown ends soon, it is unclear how quickly families will receive full SNAP benefits. Nearly 42 million people rely on SNAP. About 90% of those households have a child under 18, an elderly person or a person with disabilities. SNAP is being funded at about 60% due to the government shutdown. The woman we spoke to said she’s unsure of what the next several days will bring. “I don’t have dollars to stretch out,” she said. “I live in the senior community, and the North Texas Food Bank will be here tomorrow. So, I’ll go up there tomorrow and see what they have to give. And whatever they have, we will try to go up there and make it work.”

Kim Kardashian Failed Bar After Psychics PROMISED She’d Pass

When I took the bar exam, a friend of mine started drinking coffee brewed with caffeinated water. For his sake, that’s no longer the worst bar exam prep strategy out there. Apparently Kim Kardashian relied on a veritable coven. Kim Kardashian recently failed the bar — though she can take solace in knowing that she’s still likely a better lawyer than anyone involved with writing All’s Fair — and she knows where her…

Mind The Gap: Why In-House Counsel Often Don’t See The Innovation They Want From Law Firms

Another week, another study demonstrating the gap between what in-house legal professionals want from their outside law firms and what they’re getting when it comes to innovation and technology. Despite all the AI talk, we aren’t there yet. This time, the study was interestingly from a law firm. Thompson Hine, an Am Law 200 midwestern-based law firm, conducted the study of almost 200 senior in-house legal…

Maple Leafs Coach Reveals Message On Revenge Against Bruins’ Nikita Zadorov

Toronto Maple Leafs coach Craig Berube wasn’t a fan of the hit Boston Bruins defenseman Nikita Zadorov laid on Scott Laughton on Saturday. The hit knocked Laughton out of the game, and he will remain out of the lineup on Tuesday when the teams rematch. Given that Laughton remains out of the lineup, Berube sent a message to the team to “get a lick” in on Zadorov if the opportunity presents itself. “Well, nobody would be happy with that. It’s a tough hit,” Berube said on Tuesday, via Sportsnet. “It should inject some fire in you, for sure. But we don’t want to be stupid either. “We gotta play the game. Yeah, opportunity arises to get a good lick on a guy, get a lick on a guy.” There was no penalty on the play, but it’s clear the Maple Leafs coach wasn’t a fan of Zadorov’s hit. He also thought the hit was dirty and felt like the Bruins’ defenseman hit Laughton in the head. Berube, however, was glad that Bobby McMann stood up for Laughton and fought Zadorov. “It was a great response by Bobby. He’s sticking up for his teammate,” Berube said after the game on Saturday. “I thought it was a head shot, I have to take a closer look at it, but I will.” The Bruins will host the Maple Leafs on Tuesday in a rematch of their game on Saturday, which Boston won 5-3. MLB Insider Names Red Sox As Possible Trade Partner For AL Central Team

MLB’s annual GM meetings are underway this week in Las Vegas. While teams are unlikely to make any major moves right away, the meetings are a good opportunity for them to feel each other out, discuss their needs and start engaging in potential trade discussions. According to a report on Tuesday from MLB Network’s Jon Morosi, the Kansas City Royals are “evaluating the trade market for outfielders” during this week’s…

The Transgender Boogeyman

Those seeking to consolidate power often make it a sport to pick on a small group of people, claiming that the small group wields disproportionate power and is out to transform your children into something you don’t want (and probably don’t understand). In the 1950s, the boogeyman was communism. According to some, the communist professor teaching your “child” (because 18-year-olds are not adults apparently, except…
