NY Mets David Stearns sends clear message on the rotation after landing Freddy Peralta despite NY Yankees interest

The New York Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns made something clear about the team's rotation after landing ace Freddy Peralta, poaching yet another player away from the hands of the New York Yankees. The New York Mets just landed an ace in Freddy Peralta. That’s a big time move for the team but that’s not the only piece of news that we have about what the rotation might look like. It’s not only landing the pitcher who was also on the New York Yankees radar, it’s also the fact that a known face will be a part of the rotation too. President of baseball operations, David Stearns, talked about acquiring Freddy Peralta, but also spoke on a certain Kodai Senga. Stearns said people can “expect Kodai Senga to be a member of our rotation.” There were some questions after landing Peralta. Him being an ace, he is taking a place in the rotation, which meant a pitcher would need to be left out. However, that pitcher won’t be Kodai Senga. The Japanese had a 7-6 season with a 3.02 ERA and 109 strikeouts. Also, Senga is a lefty, so it helps with the versatility of the rotation to keep him. Peralta brings firepower to the Mets Bringing the pitcher that led the the NL in wins is very big. It’s a statement made by the Mets that this season is a high-stakes year for them. They are going all in by bringing Peralta and Bo Bichette. Freddy Peralta #51 of the Milwaukee Brewers Peralta had almost 100 more strikeouts than Senga last year and he ended up fifth in the Cy Young votes. Of course, an All-Star selection was listed to Peralta’s name. Also important, the Mets land him at 29 years old, in the middle of his prime after he posted career-highs in games started, innings pitched and the best ERA of his career. There’s a reason the Yankees wanted him too. The Mets rotation escalates hugely in the rankings The Mets projected rotation sends Peralta as one, followed by Nolan McLean, lefty David Peterson, Clayo Holmes, and Kodai Senga. However, Sean Manaea, who is also a lefty could still be in the mix. Senga battled injuries but he seems to be back and ready to go. This catapults the Mets rotation into one of the best in baseball, at least based on projections. They have a proper ace, high ceiling, experience, and depth.

Bills fired Sean McDermott to possibly sign 5x Super Bowl champion for Josh Allen in 2026 after loss to Bo Nix and Broncos

The Buffalo Bills fired Sean McDermott after the loss to the Broncos in the 2026 NFL playoffs. They have now confirmed two important interviews for their head coaching position. The Buffalo Bills wasted no time after the painful playoff loss against Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos in the Divisional Round. The team’s owner, Terry Pegula, confirmed that this was the reason he fired head coach Sean McDermott. Now, in the search for McDermott’s replacement, the Bills have announced that they interviewed Brian Daboll, a man with plenty of experience. He won the Super Bowl five times with the Patriots as an assistant and also served as Buffalo’s offensive coordinator from 2018 to 2021. Daboll won the Coach of the Year award in 2022 due to his remarkable job with the Giants. This was the official statement. “Former Giants head coach and Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll interviewed for Buffalo’s head coaching vacancy on Thursday. Daboll most recently served as the Giants head coach from 2022-25. Prior to that, Daboll was Buffalo’s offensive coordinator from 2018-21. During his time with the Bills, they went 40-25 and averaged 24.1 points per game and 352.3 total yards per game.” Bills need a new head coach after loss to Bo Nix and Denver Broncos The Bills also confirmed an interview for the head coaching position with their current offensive coordinator, Joe Brady. “Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady was first up in the candidate cycle, interviewing on Wednesday. Brady has been the team’s full-time OC since Jan. 28, 2024, and served as the interim OC beginning in November 2023.” Another head coach candidate for Bills Additionally, a report from Adam Schefter confirmed that the Bills also plan to interview Grant Udinski. “Bills are scheduled to interview Jaguars OC Grant Udinski for their HC opening Sunday, per sources. Prior to that, Udinski will have a second head coach interview Friday with the Browns.”

Pat Surtain II opens up on Broncos’ win over Bills amid Bo Nix’s season-ending injury

Pat Surtain II experienced a bittersweet moment on Saturday as the Denver Broncos defeated the Buffalo Bills but lost Bo Nix to a season-ending ankle injury. While the Denver Broncos were celebrating their win over the Buffalo Bills, Bo Nix was receiving the devastating news that his season was over due to an ankle injury. Now, Pat Surtain II has opened up about his true reaction to his quarterback’s injury. On the second-to-last play of the game against the Bills, Bo Nix suffered an ankle injury that required surgery. With his season now over, his teammates will have to carry the team forward, with captain Pat Surtain II sharing his true reaction to the tough news. “I’m not gonna lie. After the game, you feel all the emotions running. You feel good, the energy is good,” Surtain told Nik Bonitto on his Closed on Sunday podcast. “Then I heard the news about Bo (Nix), and my heart just dropped. It’s crazy because we were in the perfect situation, in the perfect spot, and then that news happened. It’s unfortunate for sure.” Can Bo Nix play in the Super Bowl? According to reports, Bo Nix suffered a broken bone in his right ankle. He underwent surgery immediately to fix the issue, and although it was initially reported as a season-ending injury, other reports suggest he could potentially return for the Super Bowl. Yes, despite having surgery just two weeks before Super Bowl LX, Bo Nix could be ready for the big game if the Broncos defeat the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game. Dr. Dave Schneider outlined a scenario in which, while extremely difficult, a return would not be impossible. “There is an outside chance that what he needs is to have surgery tomorrow,” Schneider said. “By all reports, because it’s such a simple fracture, the plates and screws being used mean that he could almost be back to play by the Super Bowl. It’s just crazy; the craziest things happen to him.” While the Broncos remain confident in Jarrett Stidham as their QB1, having Nix back could be crucial in their pursuit of a fourth Vince Lombardi Trophy. However, it will also be important not to rush his recovery and risk a more serious injury.

Not J.T. Miller: NY Rangers’ Mike Sullivan reportedly has just one untouchable player

With the New York Rangers once again open for business, reports hint there is only one untouchable player on Mike Sullivan’s team, and it’s not captain J.T. Miller. It’s not déjà vu. The New York Rangers find themselves in an eerily similar position to where they were last NHL season. General manager Chris Drury confirmed the team is set to trade some of its top assets, and there may be only one untouchable player on Mike Sullivan’s roster. As much praise as J.T. Miller gets for being a culture-changing captain, he could also be moved. In the 2024-25 NHL campaign, Drury sent a league-wide memo stating that New York was entertaining trade calls for key veterans. A year later, the Rangers have parted ways with some household names, yet remain stuck in the same square. Now, despite Miller making something clear to Sullivan and his teammates, changes are expected inside the locker room, and no one might be truly safe. Well, except for one star: Igor Shesterkin. NHL on TNT’s panel recently discussed the drama in New York, with Anson Carter and Tuukka Rask suggesting Shesterkin is the only player the Rangers can’t trade. According to them, the Broadway Blueshirts should at least be open to offers on everyone else. That includes stars like Adam Fox and Mika Zibanejad, as well as veterans like Vincent Trocheck and J.T. Miller. Rangers with trade clauses When there’s a will, there’s a way. If the Rangers truly want to trade any player on the roster, there’s usually a way to make it happen. That said, some players present taller hurdles to clear. As it stands, six Rangers carry full no-movement clauses this season: Artemi Panarin, Mika Zibanejad, J.T. Miller, Adam Fox, Vladislav Gavrikov, and Igor Shesterkin. Igor Shesterkin at Madison Square Garden Additionally, four others are under contracts with no-trade or modified no-trade clauses (M-NTC): Jonathan Quick (20-team no-trade list), Carson Soucy (12-team), William Borgen (no-trade clause, becomes M-NTC in 2026–27), and Vincent Trocheck (12-team). Panarin is on his way out For a team and organization that has struggled in almost every area of the game lately, Drury has seemingly found his bread and butter: his willingness to move any player if the price is right. That strategy is now fueling trade buzz around Artemi Panarin. ‘The Breadman’ is playing on a contract year, and New York has made it clear it won’t be handing him a new deal after the 2025–26 season. The Rangers won’t just sit idle until Panarin’s contract runs its course, either. Instead, the top priority in the Big Apple has shifted to finding a trade New York can live with—and one Panarin is willing to waive his full no-movement clause for.

Patriots receive strong backlash on Mike Vrabel decision before visit to Broncos

Following Mike Vrabel’s latest decision ahead of the AFC Championship Game, the New England Patriots have been warned about a key factor in their matchup with the Denver Broncos. The New England Patriots are one win away from reaching Super Bowl LX. Coming into the season, only a few—if any—thought Mike Vrabel could lead this team so far in such short notice. The locker room believed, though, and the results are now out there for everybody in the NFL to see. However, one last hurdle stands in the Patriots’ way, that is none other than the Denver Broncos. Though missing Bo Nix could prove to be Denver’s Achilles’ heel, the Broncos are putting the Patriots on notice, as a key weapon could return to help Jarrett Stidham. If all else fails, Denver can always lean on its home-field advantage, which is unique in the NFL. As reported by The Boston Herald, the Pats won’t board the five-hour flight to Colorado until Saturday. Thus, they will be touching down in Denver roughly 24 hours prior to the AFC Championship Game on Sunday at 3:00 pm ET. According to a physics expert, Vrabel and the Patriots may be underestimating the adversity they will be up against in the Mile High City. “Given the same temperature in Gillette and Mile High, the air is about 20% less dense in Mile High, so that’s 20% less oxygen,” physics professor Nancy Burnham forewarned the Patriots, via The Boston Herald. “If you don’t have the oxygen, your muscles can’t do their thing, so it’s a concern. I’ve been pleased to watch the Patriots’ resurgence, but I hope that they get out there soon. They’re taking a chance, they’re putting themselves at risk.” Mike Vrabel during a Patriots game. Home-field advantage Throughout the league, every team likes to believe it holds an edge when playing at home. For some, that advantage comes directly from their fans. Others have created their own edge through specific elements of their stadium or field design. However, the Broncos possess an advantage unlike any other: altitude. At Empower Field at Mile High, players compete 5,280 feet above sea level. There has long been a debate over the best way to handle that challenge. Some believe it’s best to arrive shortly before kickoff, giving players’ bodies little time to register the change in altitude. Others, however, argue that acclimatization—arriving well in advance—is the better approach. Both theories have their pros and cons. Vrabel and the Patriots are now leaning toward the former. New England knows it’s rolling the dice, but the belief is that this roster can push through adversity—and that playing in the Mile High City is simply another opportunity to prove it. Patriots vie to end their hex Nix’s season-ending injury may be the decisive factor that helps New England snap its all-time drought in Colorado. The Broncos and Patriots have met five times in the NFL Playoffs, with Denver holding a 4–1 advantage. Moreover, New England has never won a postseason game at Mile High. Will history repeat itself, or will the Pats finally plant their flag in what’s become their house of horrors? If the Patriots advance past the Broncos, Drake Maye and Mike Vrabel would accomplish a feat not even Tom Brady and Bill Belichick could pull off. Many will point to the fact that Stidham is making his first start in more than two years. It’s a reasonable argument, but the reality remains: New England is 0–4 in Denver, and Vrabel’s squad now has a chance to end the franchise’s curse in the Centennial State.
