Mini PCs were easy to dismiss in the past, but that's no longer the case. Most modern options are not underpowered or thermally constrained as small-sized computers used to be. Instead, many now deliver performance that's competitive with what you'd expect from mid to high-range desktop systems.

The state Legislature raises its curtain again on Wednesday revealing more than the usual degree of economic uncertainty that lawmakers confront each year. Not all the forecast figures are dire, but there is surely ample reason for Hawaii’s elected leaders to approach spending with rational caution.

I just read that Hawaii’s U.S. Rep. Jill Tokuda is defending and supporting transgender athletes in women’s sports (“Feds probe Hawaii DOE over gender identity in sports,” Star-Advertiser, Jan. 16). Is Tokuda not a woman? Does she have any common sense? She seems to be defending the national Democratic Party stance instead of who she is — a female.

The Jan. 13 column from Cal Thomas was another whitewashing attempt of the Jan. 6 insurrection at the United States Capitol, which was led by rabid supporters of Donald Trump (“Anti-law enforcement sentiment causing serious problems,” Star-Advertiser). That attack ended in documented deaths and career-ending injuries inflicted on law enforcement officers. Everyone connected to that crime scene was pardoned by our current administration.
