Las Vegas Raiders completely outplayed by lowly Cleveland Browns
The Las Vegas Raiders are hosting the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. Here is everything to need to know about the game: First quarter The Raiders won the coin flip and deferred to the second half. Raiders’ safety Jeremy Chinn was inured on the first drive. He jogged off the field. The Raiders forced the Browns to go three-and-out. The Raiders’ defense has forced three-and-outs in eight of their 11 games. That leads the NFL. On the Raiders’ first drive, Geno Smith had Tre Tucker wide open but he missed him badly. The Raiders had to punt and the Browns returned it 44 yards and punter A.J. Cole was called for tripping. It gave the Browns the ball at the Raiders’ 13. Cleveland quickly punched it in to take a 7-0 lead on a direct snap with 8:24 to go in the quarter. The Raiders had four yards on 10 plays on their first two offensive drives. Malcolm Koonce recorded his first sack in Week 1 and the Browns are forced to punt. The Raiders have had three offensive drives and they have punted three times. Browns’ rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders hit fellow rookie Isaiah Bond for a big bomb to to the Raiders’ three. The Browns then scored a touchdown on a wildcat run again. It’s 14-0 Browns with 48 seconds to go. Oh Boy. Ashton Jeanty gives the Raiders’ some life with a 25-yard catch-and-run to give the Raiders the ball near mid-field at the end of the first quarter. Second quarter: Daniel Carlson’s struggles continued as he missed a field goal to end a once-promising drive. Charles Snowden intercepted a bad pass from Sanders and the Raiders were able to turn it into a field goal. The Browns lead 14-3 with 8:10 to go in the half. The Raiders got a couple of nice plays from Ashton Jeanty and Brock Bowers, but a fourth sack of Geno Smith resulted in another Las Vegas punt. The Browns made a huge pass play from Sanders to Jerry Jeudy deep in Raiders’ territory but, for some reason, he stopped running, and Chinn easily knocked the ball out of his hands and the Raiders recovered. These are two lousy teams. The Raiders’ couldn’t take advantage of the Jeudy gift had to punt again. The Browns then punted and the Raiders got the ball at the end of the half. Some more mistakes put them in a 3rd and 27 situation. They then punted for the sixth time this half. The Raiders are 1 of 9 on third down. Browns 14, Raiders 3 at the half. Third quarter: The Raiders went for it on fourth down and four near mid-field after another strong kick return by Raheem Mostert. Smith was sacked. It was the Browns’ seventh sack. Tight end Michael Mayer injured his ankle. Alex Cappa replaced Will Putnam. Smith missed Tucker on a deep ball for a second time. Then, Smith made up for it be hitting Tyler Lockett in Browns’ territory on third and seven. The Raiders went for it on fourth and 3 from the 22 as Smith tried to hit Tucker in the end zone, but it failed. That type of day. Browns 14, Raiders 3 end of quarter. Fourth quarter: The Browns hit a 53-yard field goal to take a 17-3 lead with 12:08 to go. Myles Garrett with the Browns’ eighth sack. Now, Dylan Sampson runs for a 66 yard touchdown on a screen pass. Browns up 24-3. It keeps getting worse. Geno Smith hits Ashton Jeanty for a short touchdown on fourth down. Browns lead 24-10 with 5:11 to go. Smith is sacked for the 10th time and he fumbles. The Browns recovered. Garrett has three sacks today and 18 on the season. This one is over. Final score: Browns 24, Raiders 10 . Now that the game is over, let’s take a look at the key aspects: Team records: The Las Vegas Raiders are 2-9. The Cleveland Browns are 3-8. What the win/loss means for the Raiders: It’s another new low for this team as they were completely outclassed by a bad Browns team. The Raiders haven’t won in six weeks. They’re one of the NFL’s worst team and this game is another example of why the team could/should move away from Pete Carroll, Chip Kelly and Geno Smith. Turning point of the game: The Browns took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. The Raiders…
