The protesters were primarily clergy and faith leaders representing various churches and temples throughout the city. Léelo en español aquí. The protest remained largely peaceful, though there were some tense moments. Some protesters attempted to block the vehicle exit, but with police assistance, the vehicle was eventually able to get through In frigid temperatures, protesters stood blocking the exit for more than an hour. They sang songs and called for ICE actions to stop in Philadelphia. “Everyone in the city of Philadelphia is scared, but particularly our immigrant neighbors who have every right to be here and live the life they deserve to take their kids to school, to go to work,k to love and live with their families,” said Rev. Hannah Capaldi of Unitarian Society of Germantown. This protest comes after hundreds of people marched through Center City on Martin Luther King Jr. Day and gathered outside at the ICE Philadelphia Field Office. Organizers of this latest protest told NBC10 they plan to have more demonstrations in the coming weeks. All of these protests are in the wake of the killing of Renee Good in Minneapolis and the shootings of two civilians in Portland by ICE the very next day. “While ICE activity in Philadelphia has not yet reached the level of that in Minneapolis, ICE continues to strike fear into the city’s immigrant communities through kidnappings and detentions in and around the courthouses, in neighborhood parks and in business districts,” organizers of the protest wrote in a news release.

Lehigh County officials look to evict ICE after years of unpaid rent
Lehigh County officials are calling for the eviction of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) from county property after new findings show years of unpaid federal occupancy. According to officials, ICE has occupied county-owned office space for more than three years without paying rent or executing a valid lease. During a press conference on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, Mark Pinsley, the County Controller, said ICE owes more than $115,000 in unpaid rent. “We can give them a taste of their own medicine. We are going to deport ICE,” said Pinsley. Pinsley called for the termination of all negotiations with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the eviction of federal immigration enforcement agencies from county property. “I sent a memo to the county administration advising them what is happening, and I asked them to send two messages to Kristi Noem. You’re evicted. Pack your masks, tear gas, pepper balls and hit the road,” said Pinsley. “You owe Lehigh County $115,000 in back rent. Since Congress gave you a $5 billion appropriation. You could probably take it out in petty cash. But we will like it by the end of the week.” Pinsley added that the county has also established a database that allows citizens to report issues with ICE.

Brooklyn Beckham speaks out against parents in scathing Instagram post
Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, the eldest child of soccer phenom David Beckham and his fashion mogul wife Victoria, broke his silence Monday night on the long-rumored feud between him and his parents. In a series of Instagram stories, Beckham accused his parents of controlling him for years, leaking stories to the press, and manipulating the narrative about him and his wife, Nicola Peltz. NBC News has reached out to David and Victoria Beckham, Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, and Nicola Peltz for comment. On Monday, David Beckham told CNBC his kids have “made mistakes” on social media. “I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private,” Brooklyn Beckham began the six-part story, before noting that his parents have left him with “no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed.” “I do not want to reconcile with my family,” Brooklyn Beckham continued. “I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.” He went on to say that his parents’ previous social media posts about their family have been performative and that within the family, relationships are “inauthentic.” The eldest Beckham child added that his celebrity parents have pushed “countless lies in the media… to preserve their own facade,” later accusing them of turning his brothers against him. The lengthy posts are the latest development in the long-standing family feud that has gnawed away at the Beckhams’ attempts to project a perfect family life. In April 2022, reports in the British media suggested that Nicola Peltz — whom Brooklyn Beckham married in 2022 — had refused to wear one of Victoria Beckham’s designs for her wedding dress. Peltz later denied this, telling British newspaper The Times that Victoria’s atelier could not make it in time. Brooklyn Beckham’s Instagram post, however, gave a different version of events amid his claims that his parents have been “trying endlessly to ruin” his relationship with Peltz. In the post, heclaimed Victoria Beckham was set to make Peltz’s wedding dress, but backed out “in the eleventh hour.” Around the same time, he said, his parents pressured him into signing away the rights to his name before he was wed. After he refused, he said, “They have never treated me the same since.” The night before the wedding, Brooklyn Beckham said family members reminded him that his bride-to-be was “not blood” and “not family,” he wrote. Brooklyn Beckham also accused his mom of hijacking his first dance with Peltz at the wedding reception. He described a scene in which Marc Anthony called him to the stage for the first dance, which he said had been planned with Peltz for weeks, “but instead my mum was waiting to dance with me.” “She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone,” he wrote. “I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life.” The family’s stories continue to splinter Rumors of familial strife resurfaced in May last year, when the young couple inexplicably failed to show up at David Beckham’s 50th birthday party, a celebrity-packed dinner in London. In his Instagram stories, Brooklyn Beckham gave his own explanation for his absence — saying the birthday party was the latest example of his wife being “constantly disrespected by my family.” Brooklyn Beckham described feeling “rejected” until the lavish party with hundreds of guests, noting that he was only allowed to see his father then, and he was told Peltz was not invited. “My family values public promotion and endorsements above all else,” he said. “Brand Beckham comes first. Family ‘love’ is decided by how much you post on social media, or how quickly…

Deteriorating Philadelphia apartment complex getting a $50M renovation
A historic partnership among the building trades, the city, and the Philadelphia Housing Authority aims to renovate and reopen hundreds of affordable housing units in the city’s Wynnefield Heights neighborhood. Getting to work on restoring the Brith Sholom House over a year after its closure, Tuesday, city leaders announced a plan to renovate the buildings and bring 340-plus units of senior housing back to the Wynnefield Heights neighborhood – thanks in part to the building trades. “We’ve married the building trades, PHA and administration together and ain’t nobody getting divorced anytime soon,” said Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker. The Philadelphia Housing Authority acquired the West Philadelphia housing complex for $24 million in 2024, after years of neglect by previous owners, that lead to unsafe living conditions for over a hundred elderly residents. NBC10 obtained photos from apartments inside the building. The conditions were so bad that residents had to move out and relocate. “I thought we would be able to go in and do the renovations with the residence stay in place, but the conditions didn’t afford us that opportunity. No one, in my view, and absolutely no one should live in those conditions,” said Kelvin Jeremiah of PHA. Now, the building trades are getting involved, loaning $50 million to the PHA to invest in the Brith Sholom House, which will be repaid by the PHA over 15 years. The announcement comes the same week as the council is expected to vote on legislation connected to the mayors $2 billion H.O.M.E. plan. The mayor is saying that, despite disagreements with the council over how the money will be spent, they’re all committed to the goal of building and preserving 30,000 housing units. “Yes, we’re working together. We’re building consensus, and council is committed to housing and supporting the $2 billion H.O.M.E plan that I introduced, and I’m really proud of it, Philadelphia,” said Parker. Union leaders say, in addition to creating hundreds of units there, the investment will also create 545 union jobs through renovation work.
