Beltrán on Track for Hall of Fame
All signs point to Carlos Beltrán getting the call from Cooperstown when the Hall of Fame ballot results are announced Tuesday, according to Ryan Thibodaux, who tracks every ballot made public before the vote totals are revealed. Beltran, in his fourth year of eligibility, is on 89.1 percent of the 208 ballots tracked as of 12 p.m. ET Monday. It is estimated that 424 ballots will be cast, meaning 318 (75%) is needed for induction. Beltrán would need 59.8% of the remaining ballots to be enshrined in Cooperstown. He has the most votes tracked of anyone on this year’s ballot. The only other player tracking above 75% is Andruw Jones at 83.6%. Chase Utley (68.2%), Andy Pettitte (57.3%) and Félix Hernández (57.3%) are the only others above 50%. Jeff Kent was elected to the Hall last month on the Contemporary Era ballot. Beltrán, 48, hit 149 of his 435 career homers during his seven years (2005-2011) with the Mets. He represented the Mets five times in the All-Star Game, finished fourth in 2006 MVP voting, and made one exceptional catch on a hill in the 14th inning in Houston. He slashed .279/.350/.486 in his 20-year career (67.4 fWAR), won three Gold Gloves, two Silver Sluggers, and was the 1999 Rookie of the Year with the Royals. Beltrán tallied 2,725 career hits, stole 312 bases and hit .307/.412/.609 with 16 home runs and 42 RBIs in 65 playoff games. He may have been inducted sooner, but some writers likely penalized Beltrán for his involvement in the Astros’ sign-stealing scandal. In 2025, he earned 70.3 percent of the vote. Beltrán, Bobby Valentine and Lee Mazzilli will be inducted into the Mets Hall of Fame this year. David Wright, in his third year on the ballot, is currently at 20%. Players need 5% to remain on the ballot for the following year. Wright earned 8.1% in 2025. There are four others up for induction who played for the Mets: Bobby Abreu (year 7, tracking at 39.5%), Francisco Rodríguez (year 4, 11.8%), Daniel Murphy (year 1, 0%) and Rick Porcello (year 1, 0.5%). (Yes, someone, literally one person, voted for Porcello.) The results will be announced live at 6 p.m. ET on Tuesday on MLB Network.
