Mike Vrabel Reveals Bye-Week Message To Red-Hot Patriots

Chances are Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel won’t be taking the week off despite the bye week being a well-earned one. That’s because Vrabel is not satisfied with being the No. 1 seed in the AFC after 13 games. There’s still a long way to go. Even after New England won 10 straight games, including its 33-15 victory over the New York Giants on Monday night. “We’re not done. We’re not satisfied. Champions are never…

Mike Vrabel Sings Praises Of Several Players After Patriots’ Win Vs. Giants

The New England Patriots cruised into their bye week with a 33-15 victory over the New York Giants on Monday Night Football. The Pats controlled the proceedings from the opening kickoff, and after the game, head coach Mike Vrabel made sure to give several players some hard-earned shoutouts. New England raced out to a 17-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. While New York tried to make things interesting in the fourth quarter, it ultimately was unable to do much to snap its ongoing losing streak. In the process, the Patriots earned win No. 11 on the season, with this also being their 10th-straight victory. There were big performances up and down the roster in this one, but Vrabel opted to single out six players for their contributions in this game. “(Christian) Elliss, lights out,” Vrabel said as part of his postgame speech in the locker room. “Marcus Jones, house call … Left side of the line stepping up, (Ben Brown) and Vederian (Lowe) … that’s a hell of a job. Kayshon Boutte, one clap. Kyle Williams, one clap.” Marcus Jones, Kayshon Boutte and Kyle Williams scored each of New England’s three touchdowns, and on the offensive line, Ben Brown and Vederian Lowe filled in for the injured Jared Wilson and Will Campbell. Defensively, Christian Elliss set the tone with a pair of bone-rattling tackles on Jaxson Dart and Gunner Olszewski. The good times keep rolling for the Patriots, who now will enjoy some well-earned time off in Week 14. When New England returns to action in Week 15, it will have a shot to wrap up the AFC East with a home matchup against the Buffalo Bills. Red Sox’s Sonny Gray Made This Purchase Eyeing World Series Run

The Boston Red Sox might have to reimburse starting pitcher Sonny Gray. Gray, who was acquired in a trade with the St. Louis Cardinals on Nov. 25, went out and made a new purchase immediately after hearing about the trade — which he wore during his introductory press conference on Tuesday. “I think it’ll probably be beneficial for me and my family and my future to go to a different situation, a different…

Patriots’ Marcus Jones Officially Enters NFL Record Books With Jaw-Dropping Play

Marcus Jones is officially the greatest punt returner in NFL history. The New England Patriots star immediately made his mark on Monday’s 33-15 win over the New York Giants. On the Giants’ first punt of the game in the first quarter, Jones returned it 94 yards for a jaw-dropping touchdown, extending the Patriots’ lead to 10-0 with his second punt return score of the season. It was the 75th punt return of Jones’…

Red Sox’s Sonny Gray Drops Bold ‘Fact’ About Repertoire

Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Sonny Gray is nothing if not confident in his own repertoire. Gray has developed several different pitches throughout his 13-year career that has included stints with the Oakland Athletics, New York Yankees, Cincinnati Reds, Minnesota Twins and St. Louis Cardinals — most of which require him to spin the ball. Gray throws his four-seamer (21.7%) more than anything else, but mixes things up with off-speed pitches by throwing his sweeper (19.2%), curveball (18.3%), sinker (18%) and cutter (12.6%) a significant amount. Why? I’ll let the man himself tell you… “I spin the ball better than anyone in baseball,” Gray said during his introductory press conference on Tuesday, as shared by The Boston Globe’s Alex Speier. “That’s a fact.” Gray isn’t lying, as he has finished in the 97th, 94th and 100th percentile of run value on breaking pitches in the last three seasons. Gray also ranked No. 29 in active spin (89.7) on his curveball — which is a common theme among pitchers recently acquired by Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow. Patriots’ Drake Maye Sends Offensive Line Message Amid Injuries

The New England Patriots extended their winning streak to 10 games after beating the New York Giants 33-15 on Monday. However, they did so without some key players. The Patriots were without starting left tackle Will Campbell and starting left guard Jared Wilson. Garrett Bradbury was a late addition to the injury report with an illness, but played. Campbell and Wilson had started 11 games together this season, with Campbell starting all 12 of the Patriots games before landing on injured reserve. Campbell and Wilson are key players for the Patriots. Drake Maye was sacked three times on the night, but otherwise, it was a clean game from the offensive line. Vederian Lowe and Ben Brown started at left tackle and left guard, and Maye spoke on how they played. “I told them I have a lot of faith in them … I think they stepped up,” Maye told Patriots insider Alex Barth after the game. Maye continued his stellar season behind the Patriots’ banged-up offensive line. He went 24-for-31 passing with 282 yards and two touchdowns. The Patriots’ run game was still able to succeed despite the absences of Campbell and Wilson. New England ran for 119 yards, with TreVeyon Henderson leading the way with 67 rushing yards. Unlike Campbell, Wilson was not placed on injured reserve. He is reportedly dealing with a high-ankle sprain, but by keeping him off the injured reserve, the Patriots are essentially saying he has a chance to return without missing at least four games. The Patriots moved to 11-2 after their win against the Giants and go into their bye week as the top seed in the AFC. Maye is a legitimate MVP candidate, and getting Campbell and Wilson back could help fuel a Super Bowl run. Patriots’ Fast Start Product Of Mike Vrabel’s Message, Drake Maye Says

Both those in the building and those watching the game from their couch received a late-night favor from the Patriots. New England scored 17 first-quarter points en route to a 33-15 victory against the New York Giants at Gillette Stadium on Monday night. The Patriots were in control from the jump and coasted their way to a win. Meanwhile, many were able to get a full night’s sleep despite the primetime start. Patriots quarterback Drake Maye, who helped the offense score 10 of those 17 first-quarter points, believed the fast start was a product of a specific sleep-related message from head coach Mike Vrabel. “I think it was perfect with coach saying, ‘no naps,'” Maye told reporters after the win, per the team. “You want to come in here and start fast. This team has been up in a lot of games and they got good players over there and some good talent. We wanted to try to get on them fast, and Marcus (Jones) helped us with that.” more nfl Long-Awaited Scheduling Update On Patriots-Bills Week 15 Game by Sean T. The special teams score gave the Patriots a 10-0 lead before a Christian Elliss hit on Jaxon Dart further ignited the group. “I think starting fast when it’s planned, that’s what we wanted to do,” Maye said. “I think we had some play designs that coach had, and we practiced all week that worked. And I think that’s the biggest thing, is that we knew they had a new coordinator calling it for the first time, so they’re going to bring some stuff that we didn’t expect. I think we tried to handle guys up front, had a great rush, great players up front. I thought the guys did that all night. The one sack we had was my fault. “I think from there, Coach saying ‘no naps.’ I think we did a better job in the second half of living that and putting them out of reach and getting across midfield and putting the drive together to score a touchdown.” The Patriots now enter their bye week with the opportunity to get some rest. Maybe even a nap or two.

Four Studs, Four Duds From Patriots’ Dominant Victory Vs. Giants

The New England Patriots remained red-hot heading into their Week 14 bye week, as they cruised to a fairly effortless 33-15 victory over the New York Giants on Monday Night Football.
