Army Football Tradition Sparks Tense Postgame Exchange As Coaches Trade Words During Alma Mater
Army vs. UTSA football The Army football team upset UTSA on the road in San Antonio. The Black Knights improved to 6-5 ahead of a season-ending rivalry matchup with Navy. A tense scene followed the surprise win as coaches of both sides exchanged words on the field. An Army football tradition played a role in that interaction. UTSA entered as two-score favorite and appeared on their way to victory early in the game. The Roadrunners jumped out to a quick 10-0 lead. The Black Knights stormed back with 20 straight points. From there, the two sides traded blows to make for an exciting finish. Army landed a huge football win. https://youtu.be/3RbAIdXR5W8?si=rj2nLOM4Vwkjw1Ir UTSA was able to regain the lead in the fourth quarter thanks to a pair of Owen McCown touchdown passes. That set the stage for drama. The Black Knights drove 75 yards in 13 plays on a methodical possession that ate up more than six minutes. On third-and-goal from the 4-yard line, quarterback Cale Hellums connected with tight end Parker Poloskey for the go-ahead score. Army would make a defensive stand to win, 27-24. After the game, each side sang their alma mater. In Army football tradition, the Black Knights stood behind the UTSA squad as the bands played. Jeff Traylor was not happy. https://youtu.be/w1dFCM6RwVM?si=GYglGta-lxxJimeV He was seen shouting at Army players and coaches before a very brief but heated conversation with Jeff Monken. The two sides were separated before the situation escalated further. After the game, Traylor chalked it up to being an “emotional ballgame.” The singing of the alma maters is often a tradition of respect. That will be on full display next week when Army plays Navy in the annual rivalry game. In this case, the opposite was seen. Traylor didn’t enjoy Army’s presence near his team. South Alabama Football Player Ditched His Sixth School In Six Years Just SECONDS After Final Game
South Alabama defensive back Nehemiah Chandler is going to enter the transfer portal, again. His decision was announced less than one minute after the final game of the college football regular season ended. It was within seconds. Literally. Needless to say, Chandler planned his eventual departure from the program long before the last college football game of his redshirt freshman year. He is ready to get the heck out of Mobile. Who is Nehemiah Chandler? Chandler played at four different Florida high schools in four years. He started at Westside High School in Jacksonville as a freshman, played at Godby High School in Tallahassee as a sophomore and Munroe High School as a junior, and then closed things out at Wakulla High School as a senior. At 6-foot-2, 185 pounds, Chandler was rated as a three-star prospect in the recruiting Class of 2024. The No. 81-ranked cornerback received eight scholarship offers from UAB, Liberty, Maryland, Georgia Tech, South Florida, UCF, Florida A&M and Middle Tennessee. He ultimately chose to play for the Yellow Jackets. However, Chandler saw action in only one game as a true freshman at Georgia Tech. Nehemiah Chandler ultimately entered the transfer portal in April and flipped to South Alabama after originally committing to App State. He made 31 total tackles (22 solo) with 13 pass deflections and two interceptions in 2025 but the Jaguars won only four games. It was a disappointing year for a program that was just three years removed from the best season in program history on the heels of back-to-back seven-win seasons. It was an extremely strong breakout year for one of the best defensive backs in the country. Back to the transfer portal! Now a rising redshirt sophomore, Chandler decided to re-enter the transfer portal in search of a new home for the second year in a row. It will be his seventh different school in seven years. His opportunity to transfer back up to the P6 level is extremely well earned and well deserved but the timing of his announcement (through Hayes Fawcett) was absolutely wild. South Alabama lost to Texas State by a final score of 49-26 on Saturday night. The game ended at exactly 5:23 p.m. CT on the dot. No sooner, no later. The game clock hit zero as the time clock read 5:23. Fawcett posted the transfer portal announcement on Nehemiah Chandler’s behalf at… exactly 5:23 p.m CT. No sooner, no later. https://twitter.com/Hayesfawcett3/status/1994910023458173084?s=20 It’s almost as if Chandler informed Fawcett of his plans to enter the transfer portal in advance (he did) and Fawcett waited until the exact second the game was over to hit post (he did). The body wasn’t even cold! I don’t know what this says about the Jaguars or Chandler, if anything, but I cannot recall a time where this has happened before. Transfer portal announcements have been made within a few minutes of a game ending, sure. Never have I seen an announcement go live in the exact minute it was over. Wild.
