Joe Buck agrees with notion his voice became oversaturated at Fox
Joe Buck knows why people don’t complain about him as much anymore. He’s not on television every single night in October. He’s not calling Thursday Night Football and Sunday afternoon NFL games and the World Series and the LCS all in the same month. He’s just doing Monday Night Football now, and he agrees that Read more... The post Joe Buck agrees with notion his voice became oversaturated at Fox appeared first on Awful Announcing.

NCAA Hockey Bracketology: January 22
We have about two months until the field for the 2026 NCAA Hockey Tournament is unveiled, but the postseason picture is beginning to take shape. Most teams around the country have played at least 20 regular season games, which is around the time the postseason formula begins to be useful for ranking the teams. As of this morning, the NCAA Tournament picture looks like this, based on NPI and conference standings. Please note that projected conference tournament winners are in italics and are based on current in-conference point percentage: Locks (2): Michigan, Michigan StateSafe (7): North Dakota, Minnesota-Duluth, Western Michigan, Penn State, Wisconsin, Quinnipiac, DartmouthBubble In (5): Cornell, Denver, Providence, St. Thomas, Augustana, Boston CollegeAutomatic Qualifier(1): Bentley Bubble Out (5): Boston University, St. Cloud State, Michigan Tech, UConn, Harvard My projected bracket looks like this: Sioux Falls Regional North Dakota vs. Augustana Western Michigan vs. Cornell Worcester Regional Michigan State vs. Boston College Wisconsin vs. Quinnipiac Albany Regional Michigan vs. Bentley Dartmouth vs. Providence Loveland Regional Minnesota-Duluth vs. St. Thomas Penn State vs. Denver Some things to note here: Michigan and Michigan State are the only two teams I feel comfortable locking in as of this weekend. They both have a significant cushion in NPI over the first teams outside the field. Boston University (53.42), the first team out, is closer to No. 47 Yale (47.96) than they are to No. 1 Michigan (60.13). No. 15 is the current cut line for an at-large bid, but Hockey East and the CCHA have current projected champions closer to the bubble than the Big Ten, ECAC, and NCHC. Normally, No. 12 or higher is safe for an at-large bid. Penn State (No. 6) is safely on the right side, but the No. 4-9 teams in the NPI are not separated by much. We are likely to see these teams shuffle around this range each week. The battle for the final No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament will be interesting, to say the least. Key Games This Weekend No. 6 Penn State at No. 7 Wisconsin- Friday (8pm on Big Ten Plus) and Saturday (8pm on Big Ten Network) I will have the full preview for this series tomorrow. Both of these teams are safely in the field, but Big Ten title positioning is at stake. No. 5 Western Michigan at No. 4 Minnesota-Duluth- Friday at 8pm, Saturday at 7pm Again, both teams are safely in, but the winner of the series would bump up to the No. 1 seed line. No. 8 Dartmouth at No. 11 Cornell- Friday (7pm on ESPN+) Cornell has a golden opportunity to gain some ground on Dartmouth in the conference standings and pull away from the bubble a bit more. No. 17 St. Cloud State at No. 10 Denver- Friday at 9pm, Saturday at 8pm Denver has looked a bit vulnerable this season. A loss to St. Cloud State would bump the Pioneers down closer to the bubble while also giving the Huskies a quality win to move up in the NPI. No. 12 Providence vs. No. 16 Boston University- Friday at PC (7pm on ESPN+), Saturday at BU (7pm on ESPN+) Boston University has been playing better since its dreadful start to the season, though the Terriers are still inconsistent. They will need to find a way to at least gain a split in this series to avoid falling further down the pecking order.

Penn State Adds Maine to 2027 Non-Conference Schedule
Penn State has quickly found a replacement following the cancellation of the 2027 non-conference game with Delaware. Penn State will now host the Maine Black Bears in week two, set for September 11, 2027. Sources: Penn State will now host Maine in 2027.This replaces Delaware for PSU. When that game was scheduled in 2018, Delaware was still in the FCS.The Blue Hens and Nittany Lions worked together to find a replacement, with Delaware covering the difference in guarantee cost. https://t.co/ZMMOwszP59— Matt Fortuna (@Matt_Fortuna) January 22, 2026 This will mark the first meeting between Penn State and Maine on the football field. The Black Bears are coming off a 6-6 season in 2025, playing in the FCS Coastal Athletic Conference. The CAA also includes Villanova, which was a non-conference opponent in 2025. Penn State’s non-conference slate will also include a season opener with Syracuse, and a week three match-up with Temple.

Penn State vs. Wisconsin Preview/Open Thread: The Slide Continues
How To Watch Who: Wisconsin BadgersRecord: 13-5, 5-2 Big TenWhen: Thursday, January 22nd, 7:00 p.m. ESTWhere: Rec Hall, University Park, PAKenpom Ranking (PSU): 40 (119)TV: FS1Radio: Penn State Sports NetworkVegas Line: Penn State +5.5Over/Under: 160.5 What To Watch For Who Will Go Off For The Badgers? – With how non-existent Penn State’s defense has been, particularly on the perimeter, it’s a safe bet that somebody on Wisconsin will get red-hot from three-point range and go off against them. My money is on either John Blackwell (38.5% on 45-of-117) or Braeden Carrington (28-for-67, 41.8%) doing so. A Fully Healthy Freddie? – While it was a pleasant surprise to see Freddie Dilione play last Sunday against Maryland, he came off the bench and had his minutes limited to just 15. Hopefully, with a few extra days of rest, he will be more healthy and might even find his way back into the starting lineup. If PSU is going to have any chance whatsoever of pulling off the upset, Freddie will need to go off alongside Kayden Mingo Is There Any Fight Left? – Will we see this Penn State come out re-invigorated and looking to get the bad taste out of their mouths from allowing Maryland to absolutely light them up? We’ve seen this team come within a missed three-pointer at the buzzer from upsetting a Top 5 Michigan squad and play Purdue tough for a while on the road. Prediction I’m gonna go out on a limb and say Penn State keeps this game much closer than did against Maryland. That being said, we all know this PSU team’s achilles’ heel(s) and earning their first Big Ten win over this Wisconsin team is going to take a Herculean effort from the underdog and an off-night from the opponent. When you play 20 games in a conference slate, anything is possible, but I’ll have to see it to believe it. Wisconsin 83, Penn State 75 YAY HOOPS(?) Open Thread This post will double up as the open thread for tonight’s game, so feel free to comment away during the action. Just make sure not to post anything pornographic, racist, sexist, etc. and just be kind to one another, mmkay?
