‘Marty Supreme’ Serves Up A Big Win Becoming A24’s Highest-Grossing Film Domestically
“Marty Supreme” has served up a big win for A24 at the domestic box office. It’s now officially the studio’s highest grossing movie in North America with $80 million. The film was directed by Josh Safdie. The sports dramedy has passed the previous number one, “Everything, Everywhere All at Once”. They had held the title for A24 at $77 million domestically. The Academy Award-winning film is to this date A24’s highest grossing film worldwide at $142 million. But “Mary Supreme” has a chance to possibly catch up. The Timothée Chalamet led feature is currently on an awards tour that will continue to help bring audiences to theaters, where the film is still playing. Internationally, the film has only been released in select areas. It will no doubt expand its footprint in the next few weeks. This is partially why “Marty Supreme” has only to date earned about $17 million. Overall, the film has made $97 million at the global box office. ALSO SEE: ‘MARTY SUPREME’ REVIEW – WITH ‘MARTY’, CHALAMET AND SAFDIE REIGN SUPREME According to Variety, this is A24’s most expensive film to produce at $70 million. So it goes without saying that the studio needs “Marty Supreme” to have some staying power in theaters to justify the budget. But at least it’s paying off at award shows. Notably, Chalamet has won the Golden Globe and Critics Choice award for best actor. Which puts him as a potential frontrunner for an Oscar. ABOUT “MARTY SUPREME” Marty Mauser, a young man with a dream no one respects, goes to hell and back in pursuit of greatness. Along with Chalamet the film stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A’zion, Kevin O’Leary, Tyler Okonma, Abel Ferrara, and Fran Drescher.
