Red Sox’s Alex Bregman Pursuit Draws Witty Scott Boras Pun
The Boston Red Sox have a lot of work to do this offseason after finding their way to the postseason in 2025. Perhaps their most important decision involves the future of All-Star third baseman Alex Bregman, who opted out of his contract to test the waters of free agency for the second straight offseason. Bregman signed a three-year, $120 million contract with Boston last year, and he ended up hitting .273 with 18 home runs and 62 RBIs in 114 games. With the potential to earn more money on the table, Bregman decided to opt out and seek a bigger deal in free agency. Just because he’s on the open market, though, doesn’t necessarily guarantee that Bregman will leave, as both sides appear to be open to a reunion. When discussing the situation, Bregman’s agent, Scott Boras, cracked a witty joke regarding Boston’s pursuit of his star client. “No one wants a Breg-xit,” Boras joked when discussing Bregman’s potential return to the Red Sox. The Red Sox’s pursuit of Bregman is a bit complicated. While he’s obviously a great fit in the locker room and the lineup, it’s fair to wonder if his price will get driven up too high for the team’s front office. If that ends up happening, Craig Breslow and company could pivot and target other options. The door appears to be open for the time being when it comes to Bregman returning to the Sox, but it remains unknown what will end up happening. As a result, Bregman’s free agency will be worth keeping close tabs on over the coming weeks and months. More MLB: Red Sox Legend David Ortiz Sends Alex Bregman Message Amid Free Agency

Stunning Statistic Emerges After Celtics Blowout Victory Vs. Grizzlies
The Boston Celtics bounced back from a tough loss to the Philadelphia 76ers by picking up a dominant 131-95 victory over the shorthanded Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night. The win pushed the C’s record to 6-7, giving them an opportunity to return to the .500 mark when they return to action. It’s been a bit of an interesting start to the new season for Boston, to say the least. The team isn’t exactly playing poorly, but it cannot find a way to consistently win games. And yet, aside from a 128-101 loss to the Houston Rockets earlier in November, the Celtics have remained competitive in every one of their games. If it seems like the C’s are playing better than their record indicates, it’s because they are. After Wednesday night’s action wrapped up, Boston was among the top 10 teams in the league for the league in both offense and defense, but they still somehow don’t even have a top 10 record in the Eastern Conference. How imbalanced have the first 13 games been for the Celtics?Top 10 offense (10th) in the NBA.Top 10 defense (7th) in the NBA.Top 10 overall (8th) in the NBA.Not a top 10 record right now in the East… pic.twitter.com/5j357qTP3u— Sean Grande (@SeanGrandePBP) November 13, 2025 It’s tough to look at these numbers and figure out how Boston doesn’t have a winning record right now. Despite playing a solid brand of basketball, it’s not leading to wins. That should change in the future, but what has been this team’s biggest issue so far this year? That would be their inability to grind out wins in crunch time. The Celtics’ two losses to the 76ers have come by a combined three points, and there was also a deflating two-point loss to the Utah Jazz earlier this month. Boston isn’t going to win every crunch-time game, but if they win those three games, their record immediately jumps up to 9-4. Considering the talent overhaul the team underwent over the offseason, this shouldn’t be a huge surprise. The win-loss record isn’t where anyone wants it to be, but the underlying metrics indicate things will get better if Boston keeps playing at its current level. The C’s will be back in action on Sunday afternoon for a matchup with the Los Angeles Clippers. More NBA: Lakers Reportedly Shopped Anthony Davis To Celtics Before Luka Doncic Trade

Red Sox Trade Rumors: MLB Network Links Boston To 4 Star Pitchers
Craig Breslow has strongly indicated the Red Sox will go big-fish hunting this offseason, with improving the starting rotation a top priority. But who could be on Boston’s radar? The topic was discussed during a Wednesday night segment on MLB Network. Host Gregg Caserta began by suggesting Seattle Mariners starter Brian Woo as a potential trade candidate to fill the No. 3 spot in the Red Sox rotation. Caserta then asked Jake Peavy to identify a potential trade target to slot behind Garrett Crochet as Boston’s No. 2 starter. “I think it’s Joe Ryan, for me,” Peavy said about the Minnesota Twins ace. ” … Joe Ryan’s fastball — we know they love to spin it over in Boston. Joe Ryan’s fastball-oriented, plays up in a big way.” #MLBTonight reacts to Craig Breslow's comments that the Red Sox are looking to add a top-end starter and mentions Joe Ryan, Freddy Peralta and Sandy Alcantara as potential options.@GreggCasertaMLB | @JakePeavy_22 pic.twitter.com/jZi2OOWlxd— MLB Network (@MLBNetwork) November 12, 2025 Caserta then set up Al Leiter to talk about Milwaukee Brewers star Freddy Peralta, a two-time All-Star who reportedly could join Ryan on the trade block. “I like Freddy a lot,” Leiter said. ” … Every year, it just seems like he’s right there in the front end. … Completely legit stuff. I think he would be a great complement to Garrett Crochet as the righty-lefty.” Finally, Peavy suggested Miami Marlins ace Sandy Alcantara, who underwent Tommy John surgery two years ago and struggled throughout last season. Peavy believes the 30-year-old still could regain his pre-injury form — especially if he joins a team like the Red Sox. “I think Sandy Alcantara’s name is interesting, as well,” Peavy said. ” … This is a Cy Young Award winner just a few years ago. He’s one year off injury. … You get thrust into that market, into Fenway Park, it gets the best out of you if you want it and (are) ready for it.” Time will tell whether the Red Sox add another top starting pitcher this offseason, but Breslow’s recent comments and the accompanying speculation make it easy to dream big. NFL Insider Says Patriots Are One Of Just Three AFC ‘Contenders’
The New England Patriots could take over sole possession of first place atop the NFL standings with a win over the New York Jets on “Thursday Night Football” in Week 11. If the Patriots win, the Denver Broncos will get their chance on Sunday to match New England at 9-2 entering Week 12, while the Indianapolis Colts are on their bye week. Mike Jones of The Athletic wrote on Thursday morning, however, that he believes the Patriots are the only one of the three top teams that are true “contenders.” “Perhaps no one outside of the Patriots organization could have anticipated this kind of success, but Mike Vrabel’s team finds itself holding a share of the best record in the AFC with less than two months left in the regular season. The Patriots are young, and their roster still has some weak spots, but New England is a legit playoff team capable of going toe-to-toe with any squad,” Jones said. “Exceptional play from Drake Maye has been key, along with a balanced offensive approach, a stingy defense (fifth-best on third downs while also allowing just 19.2 points per game) and impactful contributions on special teams. They already have quality wins against perennial playoff teams such as the Buffalo Bills and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Will postseason inexperience limit them at all?” The national NFL writer said that not only are Denver and Indianapolis “pretenders,” while New England is a contender, but the Patriots are one of just three “contenders” in the AFC. Jones said the Baltimore Ravens (4-5) and Kansas City Chiefs (5-4) are the other “contenders” in the conference, while the Los Angeles Chargers (7-3), Buffalo Bills (6-3), Pittsburgh Steelers (5-4) and Jacksonville Jaguars (5-4) join the Broncos and Colts as AFC “pretenders.” He opined that the Chiefs “remain one of the most well-rounded, battle-tested squads with all of their goals still within reach” and Baltimore “appears to have finally found itself after a tumultuous start to the season.” New England’s two biggest wins of the season have come on the road against Buffalo (Week 5) and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Week 10). As he did with the Bills, Jones surprisingly listed the Buccaneers (6-3) as a pretender. The Patriots’ next big test comes in their Week 15 rematch against Buffalo.
