Allowing local officials to renew KY driver’s licenses breezes through Senate

The Kentucky Senate gave near unanimous approval to allowing officials such as sheriffs and county clerks to renew driver’s licenses in counties without regional offices, sending Senate Bill 7 to the House for consideration. Sen. Aaron Reed, R-Shelbyville, the bill’s sponsor, on Friday told his fellow senators that “the burden has fallen too heavily on the people.”  “Our constituents…

What’s open and closed on Martin Luther King Jr. Day

By The Associated Press Government offices, the stock market and many schools are closed Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, but most businesses are open. National Parks are still open on MLK Day although they are no longer free this year after President Donald Trump made a change in the two days that will be free this year. When in doubt, call ahead or look up more specific schedules online for stores in your neighborhood. Here’s a rundown of what’s open and closed on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, 2026: Government offices MLK Day is an official holiday honoring the civil rights leader’s birthday and legacy, so federal and state government offices are closed. Courts and most schools are also closed. Banks and the stock market U.S. stock markets and banks are closed Monday but will reopen on Tuesday. National and state parks Last month, the National Park Service announced it will no longer offer free admission to parks on King Day and Juneteenth, but instead on Flag Day and Trump’s birthday. Enemy Reaction, 2026 NFC Divisional Round: San Francisco 49ers

The Seattle Seahawk should’ve won by way more than 10 points in their Week 18 win over the San Francisco 49ers. I’d say they made up for it in the Divisional Round, winning 41-6 and sending the Niners into the offseason. It’s not only the worst loss of the Kyle Shanahan era, it’s the second-worst loss the 49ers have ever had against the Seahawks in team history. Few Seahawks wins have ever felt this satisfying to…

In Today’s Links: several thoughts and previews of this Sunday’s match-up between our Seattle Seahawks and their Los Angeles Rams, the trades that helped our squad get to this point, news and numbers of note from last Saturday’s huge win against the 49ers, a look at the 4th down stops by the Dark Side Defense from said game, how Sam Darnold managed his oblique injury to be able to perform, Grey Zabel and his…

Opinion: Keeping people moving and communities connected during state construction

Written by Newport City Commissioner Aaron Sutherland From January 1st through mid-March, gyms are packed. The treadmills are full, group classes are waitlisted, and motivation is high. By spring, the crowds thin out, and by summer, they’re gone. The cycle repeats every year. Most people who begin the new year energized and determined to get […] The post Opinion: Keeping people moving and communities connected…

Seattle Seahawks playoff schedule: Seahawks to face LA Rams in NFC Championship Game

The Seattle Seahawks’ NFC Championship Game opponent is set. In the final game of NFL Divisional Round weekend, the Chicago Bears’ magical season came to a crushing end against the Los Angeles Rams. Despite Caleb Williams’ absolutely absurd game-tying touchdown pass to Cole Kmet on 4th down in the closing stages of regulation, the Rams defense came up with a critical interception in overtime to set up Harrison…

Seahawks fan discussion: Bears vs. Rams determines Seattle’s NFC Championship opponent

The Seattle Seahawks will be hosting the NFC Championship Game next Sunday after soundly defeating the San Francisco 49ers. As for who they’ll face next? We’ve still yet to figure that one out. It’ll be a bitterly cold and snowy and blustery day in Chicago when the Bears take on the Los Angeles Rams. On paper, the Rams should win, but they narrowly escaped the Carolina Panthers a week ago. The Chicago Bears have been an inspiring story filled with improbable comeback wins under rookie head coach Ben Johnson and second-year quarterback Caleb Williams. Seattle has faced the Rams twice and the games have been decided on the final play, with each team getting a victory. The Bears haven’t faced the Seahawks this season and it’d at least be a fresh matchup as opposed to taking on another NFC West foe for a third time. I imagine most of you are pulling for the Bears, and if you’re not then you must really want to stick it to the Rams once and for all. Mike Tirico and Cris Collinsworth will be calling Super Bowl 60 three weeks from now, and they’re on the mic for this final Divisional Round matchup.
