Kidnappers Demand Motorcycles for Hostage Release in Northwest Nigeria
Kidnappers Demand Motorcycles for Hostage Release in Northwest Nigeria In a brazen attack targeting religious sites, gunmen in northwest Nigeria kidnapped more than 150 churchgoers, demanding 17 motorcycles as ransom. Residents revealed to The Associated Press that the attackers struck in Kaduna state's Kajuru council area, capturing 177 people from three churches on Sunday. The abductions mark one of the largest in recent months, as Nigeria grapples with a surge of kidnappings often perpetrated by gangs in remote regions lacking sufficient state presence. Security forces have launched tactical operations to locate the perpetrators, suspected to be utilizing forest reserves as hideouts.Kaduna Governor Uba Sani assured the public of the state's commitment to peace and security, while recent accusations from the US regarding Nigeria's handling of such crises reflect ongoing international tension. The diplomatic discord stems from allegations of inadequate protection for Christians, despite violence affecting both Christian and Muslim communities.

Jack Smith Faces Republican Fire in Trump Investigation Testimony
Jack Smith Faces Republican Fire in Trump Investigation Testimony Jack Smith, the former U.S. Special Counsel, appeared before the House Judiciary Committee, defending his contentious investigations into ex-President Donald Trump. Amid Republican criticism, Smith reiterated that Trump sought to maintain power following his 2020 electoral defeat, leading to historic prosecutions.Smith's two primary cases were scrutinized by the Republican-led panel, which accounted for allegations of Trump's conspiracy to overturn the 2020 election and unlawfully retaining classified documents. Though the cases were dropped after Trump's 2024 election win, echoes of political bias charges lingered, highlighted by GOP arguments pointing to subpoena issues.Republicans, including Committee Chair Jim Jordan, questioned Smith's motives, suggesting a politically charged pursuit. However, Smith maintained that his investigation targeted justice, not partisanship. Democrats came to Smith's defense, emphasizing his adherence to the law and factual basis in prosecuting Trump.

IMO I would take Mendoza over cam ward, Jj McCarthy, Michael Pinex,CJ Stroud and Goff...if they all was in the same draft. But to me a lot of a QBs success coming into the league depends on his coaches he'll have in the NFL. I just dont believe how a QB can have tremendous amount of success in college but then go to the NFL and all a sudden he looks like he shouldn't have been drafted period. Some guys are just mentally and physically ready to have success in the NFL. But those that have all the tools in college to be a first rounder but fail in the league..I feel is because they didn't have a good enuff coach in NFL to coach them up. So Mendoza I feel is worthy of being the #1 pick but his success will have a lot to do with his coaches. Bomani Jones is just a racist hater IMO. Mendoza got better each yr in college..he's got a great personality, loves the game..and the teammates around him..can make all the throws needed in the pros..he may not be a better athlete than Cam Ward but imo he's a better thrower and better at reading a defense than ward. So I hope as a Raiders fan we draft him and we hire Davis Webb either as HC or OC.

These media folks have just gotten to the point that a QB isn't worthy to be the no. 1 pick if he's not the best athlete who just happens to play QB. They've moved on from the Peyton Manning's of the world being the first QB picked. I'd rather have a QB who is less mobile, but can play the game from a higher mental level earlier instead of making one read then running.
