Tuesdays belong to TGL and this specific one brought us a matchup between Jupiter Links and Los Angeles Golf Club. As far as the trios tossed out from either squad… Jupiter returned Max Homa, Akshay Bhatia, and Kevin Kisner. On the Los Angeles side of things Justin Rose, Collin Morikawa, and Sahith Theegala were a part of the action. Both teams entered 0-1 on the season so someone had to emerge as the winner. That team was Los Angeles Golf Club. Here’s how it all went down. TRIPLES Hole 1 (The Claw): A nice and easy tie to start the night Hole 2 (Pick Yer Plunder): The first Hammer of the night was thrown by LA and wisely so as they won the hole and took a 2-point lead Hole 3 (The Last Toll): Another tie Hole 4 (The Jup Life): And another Hole 5 (Oh Chute): We had another Hammer throw here, but LA declined it which gave Jupiter the win by concession to narrow the gap Hole 6 (Alpine): At long last a normal and straightforward win of a hole for one point in LA’s favor Hole 7 (Set In Stone): Another tie for good measure Hole 8 (Temple): Yet another Hole 9 (Showtime): LA won the final triples hole to take a 4-1 lead into intermission This took us to the break and set up the singles matches which as a reminder were Homa/Rose, Bhatia/Morikawa, and Kisner/Theegala. SINGLES Hole 10 (Sterling): Justin Rose kicked things off with a bang of an albatross, the first in TGL history, to win the hole… there was nothing Max Homa could have done Hole 11 (Stinger): A draw between Bhatia and Morikawa Hole 12 (Cenote): Kevin Kisner doubled up Jupiter’s points on the night with a win against Sahith Theegala Hole 13 (Bluebonnet): Jupiter threw the Hammer to start the hole and Homa finished it strong which yet again doubled Jupiter’s points on the night Hole 14 (On The Rocks): We had another Hammer thrown and accepted, but it was Collin Morikawa who won this time around Hole 15 (Stone & Steeple): Sahith Theegala won the hole that was purely played for tiebreaker purposes It was a pretty heavy night for Los Angeles as noted and the highlight was easily Justin Rose’s albatross. TGL has really found a home on Tuesday nights as it sits between college basketball, and when it leads into great PGA Tour events like the American Express this week it makes it feel like professional golf is happening on a continuous loop what with one event (in this week’s case the Sony Open in Hawaii) just ending. It is the best time of the year.
