Captain Slow Is Letting Go Of His Precious 911
James May’s 2010 Porsche 911 Carrera S heads to auction with no reserve. Just 31k miles, full service history, and extensive recent maintenance included. Clean, documented 997.2 example with classic spec and celebrity provenance. Owning a piece of Top Gear history is a thing some fans only dream of. Now, those with the cash to flash can potentially have all that and a delightful little car in one. This 2010 Porsche 911 Carrera S rolled off the production line and straight into the garage of James May, who at the time co-hosted Top Gear alongside Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond before the trio moved on to Amazon’s The Grand Tour. Now, he’s selling it with a sterling service history, low mileage, and no reserve. More: Clarkson Bought This Scruffy Alfa Romeo For Pennies And Now It’s Worth A Small Fortune Captain Slow ordered the car in Carrara White over Ocean Blue leather, opting for a classic, understated pairing that suits the softer-edged 997.2 design. It rides on 19-inch Carrera Classic wheels with 5mm spacers and wears N2-rated Michelin Pilot Sport tires. Red calipers peek out from behind the wheels as one of the few flashy bits. Of course, the drivetrain is the real party piece here. And for good reason, as it’s a naturally aspirated 3.8-liter flat-six that makes 380 horsepower ( kW) and 310 lb-ft ( Nm) of torque. It sends that grunt to the rear wheels only via a six-speed manual transaxle. Beyond its connection to May, this continues to be a well-loved version of the 911 thanks to its analog character. Equipment includes PASM, PSM, a limited-slip differential, Bose audio, PCM with navigation, cruise control, a grey-tinted windscreen, a rear wiper, and the factory Porsche Vehicle Tracking System (now disconnected). The sale includes the original order form, owner’s manuals, MOT certificates, invoices, V5, and even May’s personal cleaning brush. The service history is robust and well-documented. The latest maintenance, carried out in May 2025 at 30,793 miles by Number 5 Garage, included new front radiators, front tires, all coolant hoses, A/C condensers and drier, fluids, filters, brake fluid, gearbox oil, and wiper blades. Previous services were performed in 2012, 2014, 2015, and 2017 by Porsche Centre West London and Number 5 Garage, showing long-term, consistent care. Between the mileage, the careful ownership, the clean history, and the celebrity provenance, this 997.2 Carrera S stands out as a rare opportunity. Japanese Tuner Turns VWs Into Bugs That Bite Back
Japanese tuner Ludix builds rugged off-road versions of Volkswagens. Upgrades include lift kits, steel wheels, all-terrain tires, racks, and wraps. Company plans to expand its services to Mercedes, Porsche, and Audi. Japan has seen a wave of special editions and outdoor-focused conversions in recent years, but not all of them come from legacy automakers. One standout is Ludix, a local tuner that has made a name for itself crafting adventurous Baja-inspired builds from Volkswagens. More: This Ruf-Style Beetle Proves Even VW’s Most Adorable Car Can Get Seriously Mean The team describes its goal as creating vehicles “for work, play, and everything else,” focusing for now on the Volkswagen New Beetle, Beetle, and Golf. Eventually, Ludix plans to expand its efforts to include Mercedes, Porsche, and Audi models. Baja Spirit, JDM Style Starting with the New Beetle (1997–2011), Ludix transforms the retro hatchback into something ready for the trail. A substantial lift kit, fresh wheels wrapped in Toyo Tire Open Country rubber, and a matte wrap set the tone. Custom touches include a bull bar, bolt-on fender extensions, a roof rack complete with a spare wheel and extra LEDs, and a rear rack for luggage or gear. Beneath it all, the car keeps its stock 2.0-liter TSI engine, unmodified but willing. Ludix Ludix hasn’t stopped there. The tuner also offers a conversion for the last-generation Beetle (2011–2019), one that nods to the factory Dune trim. This version carries over many of the same cues, including steel wheels, all-terrain tires, fender flares, a roof rack, and a two-tone wrap, though the suspension lift is milder than the earlier model’s. More: This Is One Twisted Creation You Have To See To Believe Moving on to the Golf VII, Ludix applies a similar adventurous formula. The result looks far more rugged than Volkswagen’s own Golf Alltrack, which was sold only as a Variant estate, and closer in spirit to the ‘90s Golf Country. The essentials remain the same: black steel wheels wrapped in grippy all-terrain tires and a lifted suspension. Ground clearance increases by about 70 mm (2 inches), leaving the Golf standing taller than a Tiguan. There’s more to the details, too. The bumpers get a special textured finish that mimics unpainted plastic, not as a cost-saving measure but to resist stone chips and scratches. Buyers can pair it with a custom wrap, decals, a roof rack, and auxiliary LEDs for a more adventure-ready look. Surprisingly, the model is based on a Golf Comfortline BlueMotion with the 1.2-liter TSI engine and FWD. However, the same parts would most likely be compatible with any Golf VII, including those with the 2.0 TDI and the 4Motion AWD system. How Much for the Upgrade? Ludix sells its creations in several forms: complete vehicles, conversion packages, and individual components for existing owners. The Golf VII GNC package costs between ¥550,000 and ¥900,000 (equivalent to $3,500–$5,700 at current exchange rates) on top of the donor car’s price. Upgrades for the New Beetle, on the other hand, can reach ¥1.7 million ($10,800). A scroll through the company’s social media reveals even more experiments, including a lifted Polo Mk4 that looks ready to tackle a forest trail. Ludix VW Polo MK4 modified by Ludix

How Nissan Made The New Sentra Look Bigger Without Adding An Inch
Nissan redesigned the 2026 Sentra with sharper lines to appear wider. The cabin features a larger infotainment screen and digital cluster. It focused on design impact over any performance improvements. Nissan’s latest Sentra arrives looking like a clean break from everything that came before it. The design language is sharper, and at first glance, the car seems to have grown considerably. Yet, despite its more substantial presence, that sense of extra size is largely an illusion. Thanks to some design trickery, Nissan has made the 2026 Sentra appear bigger than it actually is, and amid a sea of bland-looking sedans, it certainly stands out. Design Illusion When designing the new Sentra, Nissan’s team “incorporated stretched lines that make Sentra appear wider, bolder and more dynamic”, said design director Lihao Yu. In addition, the horizontal lines running across the front enhance the wide appearance, while subtle sculpting brings the car visually closer to the ground. Read: Nissan Gave The Sentra 2026 Looks But Left The Power In 2016 “It merges purposeful energy with a mature sophistication,” Yu explained in a recent LinkedIn post. “The roofline is highlighted by a sleek, arching satin finisher, which enhances its proportions and gives it a more premium, confident look than ever before.” Nissan has also spent plenty of time working to give the Sentra a muscular appearance, adding beefy fenders and new LED taillights. It also worked to minimize panel gaps. “We minimized the space between the doors, hood and fenders. These small details make Sentra feel clean and seamless,” Yu explained. Review: 2026 Nissan Sentra Feels Too Nice For Its Price But One Familiar Flaw Remains When painted in a bright shade of orange and contrasted with a black roof like the launch car, there’s no denying the 2026 model is a head-turner. Importantly, Nissan didn’t forget the cabin. It has a long single-panel housing the digital instrument cluster and infotainment display, and a two-spoke steering wheel. “The interior was a strong point in the previous Sentra, so we wanted to elevate that reputation even further,” Yu said. “The displays are precisely positioned for ease of use, and they blend cleanly into the dash.” According to Yu, the new Sentra’s cabin is made of higher-quality materials than before and avoids monochrome color themes, instead opting for red accents on the SR model and blue touches for the SL. Beneath the flashy exterior and the new interior, the 2026 Sentra is very similar to the model it replaces. It continues to be underpinned by the Renault-Nissan CMF-CD platform and retains the same 2.0-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder with 149 hp and 146 lb-ft (198 Nm). Apparently, it doesn’t offer the kind of sporty performance that the eye-catching exterior may suggest, but then again, that was never its maker’s intention anyway.

One In Four Of These Luxury SUVs Is Stolen In Ontario
RAV4 and Ram 1500 top Canada’s list of most stolen vehicles. Trucks and SUVs dominate both theft volume and frequency. The Lexus TX is proving irresistible to car thieves in Ontario. If you’re in the market shopping for a new ride in Canada, you might want to check whether the model you want has already made it onto another kind of shopping list, of the criminal kind. Équité Association has released its latest roundup of Canada’s Top 10 Most Stolen Vehicles of 2024, and once again, the results read like a greatest-hits album of the country’s most popular trucks and SUVs. But there’s a twist to this story that’s bad news for one lesser-spotted model. Which Models Top the Charts? The most stolen vehicle in Canada this year is the previous-generation Toyota RAV4, with 2,080 thefts recorded and the MY21 proving particularly tempting to thieves. Given that every second driveway in Canada seems to have a RAV4 parked in it, this probably isn’t shocking. The compact SUV just ticks every box for criminals: huge resale demand, easy parts movement, global desirability and lots of them sitting out in the wild. Related: BMW Built A 3 Series Tribute Only Canadians Get Second place goes to the Ram 1500 Series with 2,018 thefts, followed closely by the Honda CR-V at 1,911 and the Honda CR-V with 1,911. Ford’s F-150 truck, Canada’s best-selling vehicle, is fourth, and rounding out the top 10 are the Jeep Wrangler, GM’s Silverado/Sierra twins, the Toyota Highlander, the Toyota Tundra and the Lexus RX. Canada Vehicle Thefts Équité Association But raw theft numbers don’t tell the whole story. Canadian thieves also have a different way of choosing their favorites, and it flips the rankings entirely. Frequency Flips the Rankings When you look at theft frequency, the number of vehicles stolen as a percentage of how many are insured, the chart flips upside down. The most frequently stolen vehicle in the entire country is, rather surprisingly, the Lexus TX. Only 967 of them are insured, yet 144 were stolen. That works out to a jaw-dropping 14.89 percent, or one in seven theft rate. And when you drill down by region (see tables at bottom of post) to see the figures for Ontario, the rate of thefts jumps to a crazy one in four! In other words, if you live in Canada’s southernmost province and own a Lexus TX, you may want to get a bank vault for a garage. Canada Vehicle Thefts by Frequency Équité Association Next up is the Toyota Grand Highlander at 4.29 percent, followed by the Land Rover Defender at 2.95 percent, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class at 2.73 percent, and the Range Rover at 2.44 percent. Are you sensing a theme here? Pricey SUVs are as desirable to thieves as they are the rest of us. Lower down the frequency list are the Lexus GX, Acura TLX, Jaguar F-Pace, Toyota Tundra and Jeep Gladiator, all with theft rates hovering between 1.45 and 1.88 percent. Thefts in Canada remain a billion-dollar headache, and judging from these rankings, thieves continue to be extremely on-trend with their choices. If your driveway looks like it belongs in an upscale outdoor-gear commercial, now might be the perfect time to invest in a steering-wheel lock, a decent camera system and, maybe, a very angry dog.
