Driver charged after newborn dies following crash in New Castle County: Police
A man who allegedly crashed into another car while driving under the influence of alcohol on Wednesday, Dec. 3, has been charged with second-degree murder after a newborn baby died due to complications from the collision, Delaware State Police said. The crash occurred at around 9:45 p.m. in Townsend, Delaware, after 28-year-old Pavan Patel allegedly ran a red light at the intersection of Boyds Corner Road and Jamison Corner Road, police said. Patal, who was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee eastbound on Boyds Corner Road, crashed into the passenger side of a Mazda CX-9, which was traveling southbound on Jamison Corner Road, police said. A 31-year-old pregnant woman driving the Mazda was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said. However, due to complications from the crash, she gave birth to her baby, La’Royce Johnson-Young. On Saturday, Dec. 6, Johnson-Young was pronounced dead, police said. Patal turned himself in on Wednesday, Dec. 10, and faces a second-degree murder charge, as well as assault in the first-degree, driving under the influence of alcohol and other related offenses, police said. According to police, Patal currently remains in custody on $280,102.00 cash bond.

Bucks County teen fires shots at home after feuding with co-worker, police say
Video shows the moments a Bucks County teen drove in front of a home and fired shots following a feud with a co-worker, investigators said. Liliana Khinchegashvili, 18, of Bristol, Pennsylvania, is charged with firearms not to be carried without a license, possession of an instrument of crime with intent and false identification to a law enforcement officer. Investigators said the shooting occurred on Dec. 4, 2025, shortly before 5 a.m. outside a home on Washington Street in Bristol. Video obtained by NBC10 shows a Honda driving the wrong way on Washington Street and then stopping outside of a home. A person inside the car then pulls out a gun and fires shots. No one inside the home was struck or injured. Police said the family inside the house was sleeping at the time and they didn’t realize someone had fired shots at them until they saw the video on social media. Later that day, around 2:46 p.m., Falls Township Police contacted Lower Makefield Township Police to tell them that the vehicle involved in the shooting was spotted traveling southbound on Newtown Yardley and Stony Hill roads. Police later found the vehicle in the parking lot of a Wegmans in Yardley, Pennsylvania. They also obtained surveillance video showing a woman as well as a man entering the store, according to the criminal complaint. As police checked the store, they found the woman and man in one of the aisles, investigators said. The woman initially identified herself as 18-year-old “Didr Bond,” according to police. The officer determined she was carrying a weapon and recovered a loaded Beretta 9mm handgun, according to the criminal complaint. The woman was taken to Lower Makefield Township police headquarters where investigators determined her real name was Liliana Khinchegashvili. Investigators said Khinchegashvili was involved in a feud with her co-worker and traveled to the co-worker’s home where she fired shots. Khinchegashvili is in the Bucks County jail after failing to post bail. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 16, 2025. Online court records don’t list an attorney who could speak on her behalf.

An early morning house fire at a vacant property in the Feltonville section of North Philadelphia kept firefighters busy overnight, officials said. According to fire officials, crews responded to a fire at a vacant property located along the 4600 block of Boudinot Street in Feltonville, at about 12:15 a.m., early Thursday. Officials said that there were no people inside the home when firefighters addressed the flames and no one was injured in the incident. An investigation into the cause of the fire, officials said, is ongoing. This is a breaking news story. It will be updated as new information becomes available.

Police in New Castle County, Delaware arrested a 21-year-old man after he, allegedly, called police seeking help reclaiming personal items he had left in a vehicle he has been charged with stealing after it was towed away on Wednesday. The ordeal unfolded, officials said, after a Hyundai Sonata was stolen after being parked along Fairway Road in Newark, Delaware at about 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday. In that case, police said, the victim told police they started their vehicle to warm it up and left it unattended with the keys inside. Upon returning to where the vehicle was parked, police said, the victim learned it had been stolen. Then, on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2025, at about 11:45 a.m., the New Castle County Regional Communications Center received a call from Kayonne Baxter, 21, officials said. In that call, police claim, Baxter admitted to police he had stolen a Hyundai Sonata and it had since been towed by a towing company to another location. Police said Baxter wanted police to help him track down personal belongings that he had left in the stolen vehicle. Léelo en español aquí Following that call, police responded to Fairway Road and apprehended Baxter, who was taken into custody without incident, officials said. The vehicle was located and recovered from a nearby towing company, police said. Baxter’s personal belongings, according to police, were still inside the vehicle when it was recovered. Baxter has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle and he was arraigned and released, pending an upcoming court hearing, officials said.
