Comment on The Terrible Podcast — Weidl GM Interview, McCarthy Discussion, Roethlisberger’s 2 Cents, 2026 QB & More by Roberto
Your love for Will Howard reminds me of the way you “fan boyed” for Kenny Pickett a few years ago. A gritty personality and a local address doesn’t a starting quarterback make. You both should know that! As I recall, you were somewhat high on Malik Willis when he came out in the draft. Perhaps the Steelers should go get Willis and let him compete with Rudolph and Howard for the starting nod in 2026. I would be surprised if either of the young guys can beat out Mason, but if they do that would be great. Fingers crossed that the 2027 QB draft has some depth and the Steelers can go get a long term solution at the position. Meanwhile, follow Ben’s strategy and beef up the team with a large draft class and smart FA moves this year.

In reply to SuburaNation. Last year, the Vikings opened a 40-acre practice and training facility that cost them $120M and they promptly missed the playoffs. In 2024, the Chargers opened a new 14-acre facility that cost $276M. They've lost in the wildcard round (16-3 and 32-12) in both seasons since. In 2021, the Dolphins opened a 244,000 sqft state-of-the-art training facility that cost $135M, and they haven't won a playoff game since. And then you have the Cowboys, who spent over $1.5B on Jerry's World, which includes their stadium and practice facility (plus a mall, concert venue and HS stadium). They missed the playoffs in 2019, 2020, 2024, and 2025 and they went 1-3 in the 2021 - 2023 postseasons. Clearly, those massive capital expenditures don't contribute to on-field success. So, why would the Rooney family even consider spending money like that? If anything, it would persuade convince them not to.
